Perfect Strangers - Page 60

Cocking his head to one side he shrugged his shoulders, “Single?”

“Well yes, look at you. You’re …Uhm … the complete package. Handsome, you’re a gentleman and you’re great in bed. I don’t get how someone like you has been single for so long.”

Stepping from the bath, he slowly stalked towards her, she slowly took steps backwards. “Maybe I haven’t met the right woman yet to appreciate all that,” he replied.

“Or maybe you just have?” she whispered. Her back collided with the door frame bringing her to an abrupt stop.

Reaching out he grabbed her by the towel and pulled her closer, her breath completely leaving her body in the process. “What are you saying, Juliet?” he whispered as he kissed the side of her neck. She forgot all about the towel she was clinging on to, and let go of her death grip on it, with it sliding to the floor, she wrapped her arms around his neck.

“I don’t know,” she mumbled.

His eyes slowly found hers and his lips twitched in into a smile. “You are the right woman for me? Is that what you’re trying to say?”

Shit. I don’t know. It hasn’t been long.

“Do you want to know what I think?” he asked running his thumb lightly over her lips.

No! I mean, yes! Shrugging, she looked away from him, and dropped her arms from his neck. He cupped the side of her face and leant towards her ear. “I think, Juliet that, yes …” A loud shrill of a phone ringing stopped him in his tracks. Myla took this opportunity to move away from him and into the main room. Frantically she threw discarded bedding and clothes around in a desperate bid to locate her cell phone.

“Where’s my purse?”

Removing his shirt from a nearby chair, he picked up her ringing purse and held it aloft. “Is this what you’re looking for?” he teased, playfully.

“Yes! Thank you,” she beamed. She crawled over the bed towards him with her hand out stretched.

“Not so fas

t,” he mumbled as he held it higher out of reach.

“It could be important,” she whined, trying to jump up to retrieve it from his grasp.

“God, Myla. Please don’t fucking jump again, you’re naked and seeing those breasts of yours bounce around, we–” She cut him off when she launched a pillow, full force, hitting him straight in the face. He groaned and his upright arm slowly sank to Myla’s level. Seizing her opportunity, she jumped from the bed and grabbed her purse. “Low blow, baby. Low blow,” he muttered.

“I play mean and dirty, Kai. You’ll need to know that for future reference,” she laughed and dug out her cell phone.

“Oh, I already know about the dirty,” he mused pulling on his shirt and licking his lips.

Flicking her hand in the air, mockingly, she looked at her cell. Four missed calls. “Shit!” she muttered as she pressed redial. The call was answered on the first ring.

“Hello?” Growled her father. “Myla?”

“Yes, it’s me, what’s wrong?”

“We have a situation that needs your utmost attention.”

She brought her palm to her forehead and groaned. She heard a shrill wailing in the background. “What’s happened, what’s wrong?”

“It’s Grace.”

Myla stood up and began pacing up and down the room, forgetting she was naked, until Kai came towards her with a hotel bath robe. Winking, he held it out to her, and she slipped it on as he kissed the back of her head. “What’s happened with Grace?” Myla asked.

“Is that Myla? Let me speak,” screamed Grace. A muffled sound poured through the speaker, Myla winced as she moved the cell away.

“Is everything okay?” Kai whispered standing in front of her. Shrugging her shoulders, she flopped back down on the bed.

“Myla?”

“Yes, I’m here Grace, what’s going on?”
