That couldn’t be unusual. After all, they were seriously attractive men.

Taylor laughed. “Is that a normal reaction for you? To want to have sex with the only three men in the room?”

I gasped involuntarily. I didn’t want to….

I sat back against the couch, crossed my legs and arms over my body and stared him down.

When he put it like that… “Well, no. But…” But what? I let my arms drop down. “Yeah, it is weird, actually. I haven’t been attracted to anyone for… forever.”

I shrugged, not wanting to get into my lack of sex life.

Dexter got to his feet and began to pace at the back of the room. I could feel his aggression, his pent-up emotions. But they didn’t seem to be directed at me.

“Keep going, Taylor,” he said, not looking at me as he stalked up and down like a lion at the zoo.

I looked over at Taylor. “Tell me.”

Taylor pressed his lips together and then spoke. “Okay.

Well, the three of us are wolf shifters.”

He couldn’t be telling me they were some mythical being that belonged in the movies. “You mean… like werewolves or something?”

It was in Twilight, so why not? Right?

He smiled. “Not quite. We aren’t a slave to the moon and we have complete control over our bodies, even in wolf form. Jay, Dex and I are a pack. We’re part of a much larger pack as well. The Woodlands Pack.”

These guys obviously needed their heads examined.

“So, let me get this right. You believe you’re a wolf shifter… hmm… okay, then. Show me.”

I knew, from a mental health perspective, I wasn’t meant to shatter their illusions too quickly, but I was running out of time. Everyone at the hospital would be looking for me, and within a few days, my parents would start to worry too.

I lived alone, so there wasn’t a roommate or a husband to note my absence, which I wasn’t going to admit to these guys. But I had to work out how I was going to get home from here and the easiest way was to get them to drive me.

Taylor looked over at the other men in the room. “Um… I suppose Jay could show you. He’s the smallest of us. Dex’s wolf is pretty big.”

Jay looked at me with big, wide eyes. “Are you sure you want me to do that, Claire?”

I wanted to laugh, but managed not to. These guys couldn’t be serious right now. “Yeah. Go for it.” I waved my hands in the air, giving him permission to do whatever he was about to do.

Although, if a real wolf materialised into this room, I was going to shit myself.

He began to undress and moved behind the couch. “Okay… but don’t yell, okay?”

I nodded and Jay disappeared as though he’d never been there.

“Holy shit.” I jumped to my feet. “Where’d he go?”

Around the couch stepped a small brown wolf.

“Oh my God!”

I jumped up onto the couch, adrenaline thundering through my veins.

“Hey, stop. You said you wouldn’t yell.” Taylor said, as the brown wolf disappeared behind the couch once again.

“He’s timid in his wolf form, you’ve gotta be quieter than that.” Dexter said as well, his tone one that was protective and annoyed at me.
