If I timed everything right, Madison would get here in time to see the sunset. I expected her to tease me for how cheesy this all was, but that would mean that I did a damn good job. If it wasn’t cheesy, it wasn’t good enough. With a nervous breath, I adjusted my black suit, fixing my collar under my suit jacket. I just hoped that everything went well.

Madison deserved the world. She deserved everything. On top of starting a business, she was growing a baby inside of her. I saw firsthand how hard it was for her somedays. She always felt guilty about taking time off, but we only had a handful of weeks left before the baby was born. She needed to rest as much as possible, and I just wanted her to know how much I loved her and appreciated her.

Meet me here

I sent the message and my location to Madison before pocketing my phone. She was only about ten minutes away from the park, so it wouldn’t be long before she showed up. She would be confused at first, but anyone could look at the scene and know that a proposal was about to happen. Why else would there be so many rose petals?

I stood in the heart of tea lights, breathing in steadily through my nose to calm my nerves. I didn’t know why I was nervous. I knew she wanted to marry me, but this was still a big moment for both of us. We would always remember tonight, and I wanted everything to be perfect.

I snapped out of my thoughts when I saw someone heading down the walking trail toward me. My heart immediately sped up at the sight of Madison as she peered around with a confused look on her face. I waved my hand, catching her attention and making her stop dead in her tracks.

Madison looked at the scene for a few seconds. It only took a few seconds for her to place her hand over her mouth. Even from twenty feet away, I could tell that she was tearing up. She headed off the walking path and approached me, stepping on the scattered rose petals until she joined me in the heart.

“Tyler, this is amazing,” she said as she gazed around at the scene. The bright orange and pink glow of sunset lit up her face as she met my gaze. “I can’t believe you did all of this.”

“I would do anything for you,” I told her as I reached out to take her hand. I pulled her closer to me, already wanting to kiss her. I held myself back, but it was hard to when she smiled at me so sweetly.

Madison squeezed my hand, her face flushing with a light blush. Her baby bump was incredibly prominent at this point. She wore a black dress, the material stretching over her stomach and making the curve of it even more pronounced. She had never looked so beautiful to me.

I pressed a gentle kiss to her hand before lowering myself down to one knee in front of her. My heart pounded heavily as I gazed up at her. I was baring my entire heart and soul to her. She knew me better than anyone. She was my best friend, my partner in crime, the love of my life. She was everything and more.

“I’ve looked forward to this moment for a while. It’s no secret that I love you with all of my heart, but I want you to know that I wouldn’t me be without you. You’ve brought me to life and shown me how happy I could be. I’m so grateful for you and everything we’ve experienced together,” I told her, feeling my chest and throat tighten slightly as I spoke.

Tears slipped down Madison’s face as she listened to me. Her hand slightly trembled in mine.

“I can’t wait to raise our baby with you. I can’t wait to watch your business become a big success. I want to experience everything with you for the rest of my life,” I told her, meaning every single word.

I reached into the pocket of my suit jacket, taking out a black ring box. I spent two weeks trying to find the perfect ring for her. It had to be the perfect cut, the perfect size. It had to be her ring. When I finally found it, I couldn’t wait to put it on her finger. I opened up the ring box for her to see the diamond ring that I picked out for her, watching her eyes widen in awe.

“Madison Palmer, will you do me the honor of marrying me?” I finally asked the big question.

“Yes! Of course,” Madison cried happily.

A relieved smile crossed my face as I slipped the diamond ring onto her finger, admiring how the silver band hugged her finger just right and how the diamond gleamed in the light of the sunset. It really was the perfect ring for her. I rose to my feet and pocketed the ring box before taking her face in my hands and kissing her deeply.
