“You know this might end in disaster, right?” I hum.
“Impossible. Nothing about you will make me run for the hills.” I chuckle against his mouth and bite down on his bottom lip, causing him to squirm.
“I didn’t mean me. I meant this—us. We’re both damaged.”
“And I’m making it my mission to put you all back together. Piece by piece.”
God, he has a way with words. Not to mention the way he kisses. And smells. And feels. Heck with it. I wrap my legs around him and do some old school gym moves, flipping myself so I’m on top. “Just remember you asked for it.”
“God, it’s super sexy when you say that.”
“Is it going to sound sexy when you realize what a broken mess I am and leave?”
He reaches up and gently pinches my hard nipples, massaging them between his thumb and forefinger. “See, that’s the thing. I don’t think you’re broken. I think you’re perfect. Kind. Flawlessly stunning. You’re also a little feisty, but baby, that’s what I like most about you. If there’s anything crazy about either of us, it’s me. Because I’m crazy, out of my mind, addicted to you.”
Him. And. His. Words.
A smile blasts across my face. “Your funeral, pal.”
“That’s where you’re wrong…”
My brow raises. “How so?”
“For one, you’re not my pal, and I plan on showing you exactly what you are to me. Second, the things I do plan are nowhere near sad and depressing. More like mind blowing and out of this world, orgasmic.” And just like that I’m flipped and tossed like a rag doll, while Chase verbally and physically shows me.
Chapter 16
Chase
I practically dance into Jimmy’s Bar to meet up with the guys. I open the door and hug the doorman. He pushes me off, and I come to my senses. I should probably get my shit together.
Act cool. Suspiciousness leads to questions. And those are questions I do not have answers to. Nowhere near answers to.
“Hey, Stevoreno!” I wave at the bartender as I walk through. He gives me a strange look, but I don’t care. I’m on top of the world. If anyone had told me I’d be head over heels in love a month ago, I would have laughed them out of the room. Fuck, how did my life turn upside down so unexpectedly, but in the most amazing way?
I reach the table, the guys focusing on the game. “What’s up, guys? Missed you all. Anyone need a drink?”
Levi turns first. Kip, a solid second after. “What did you just say?” Levi asks.
“Asked if anyone needed a drink.”
“Yeah, got that. I’ll get back to that one. Before that…”
Why is everyone staring at me? “I said what’s up?”
Kip jumps in. “No, no. You said you missed us—”
“I didn’t fucking say that.”
“Yes you did,” Levi backs him up. “Right before you offered to get us drinks.”
I throw my hands up. “I’m trying to be a nice guy.”
“Yeah, that’s the point,” they say at the same time.
Kip speaks up. “You okay, man?” He stares me down as if I have two heads. “You’ve been MIA again, then show up acting all sweet. Something’s up.”
“Nothing’s up.”
“Something’s up. What is it? Did you lose a bet or something and need money?”
“Did you bang someone’s little sister and planning out bail money in advance?” Levi jumps in.
I flip Levi off. “Nice one.” Why are my friends being such assholes? “Geez, can’t someone be in a good mood?”
I look over at Ben, who hasn’t said a word since I walked in. He hasn’t bothered to participate in the Chase bashing. Hasn’t even looked at me.
“Don’t look at Ben for help. He’s not gonna bail you out. He has less money than you.”
Levi and Kip start laughing, but my mood plummets. And not from their shit talking. Why the hell is Ben mad at me? You know why, asshole.
“Or! Have you finally been snatched up by a female? Is that what it is? When a guy goes missing, ninety-nine percent of the time, it means he’s got a lady…”
“Maybe he’s settling down with someone’s mom,” Levi starts. “Remember that one time with Tina Wilson’s mom? Or was it Becca O’Reilly’s mom?”
Kip spits out his beer. “No, it was Jennifer Hallahan’s mom.”
“Okay, dude. Fess up. Who is it?” They both look at me, waiting for an answer. One I can’t give.
I want to scream that I found a girl who makes me absolutely lose my shit because she’s so amazing. From the way she snores to the way she looks at me when she’s ready to pounce. And boy can that girl pounce. She smells like cherries and forever. I don’t know how to process that, but goddamn do I love it. No, I fucking need it.
But when I say that, I’ll have to follow it up with who she is.
