Blame It On The Gin:On The Rocks - Page 16

I ask my assistant to forward me any emails because I was going to be working in my office for a few hours. But not sixty minutes later, he calls me. "There's someone here really wanting to see you," he says.

"If it's not important, I really don't have time for this. I didn't work all weekend."

"Which is a good thing," Jonas says. "You work way too hard. It's good to take a few days off."

"Well, who is it?"

"I don't know. But they seem like it's really, really important."

"All right," I say. "Fine. Let them in."

A moment later, there's a knock on my door. "Come in." When the door opens, it's the last person I expected to see. "Ginny," I say, standing from behind my desk. "Are you okay? What happened to you? You left without even saying goodbye."

"I know," she says, walking toward me and pressing her hands to my hips. "I'm sorry. I was a fool. Forgive me."

"I want to," I say, "but what made you leave?"

"It was stupid. One thing you should know about me is I run with my emotions, and sometimes it gets me in trouble, like this time. I saw the plaque on your wall, that you own Water Well, and..."

My eyebrows lift. "You have a problem with sustainable water?"

"No," she says. "I applied for a job and was supposed to interview here on Friday. That's the job I was so disappointed about not getting. I mentioned it, remember?"

I nod. "Yeah. I remember you saying you didn't get the job you wanted, but I had no idea it was the job for me."

"You didn't hire me and it made me think you didn't like what you saw on my resume. So when you left to go get coffee, I saw that plaque, and I put two and two together. You are the person who didn't hire me."

"But I didn't even know you. I didn't know you were one of the candidates."

"I know," she says. "I mean, I know that now because I just spoke with Bobby."

I frown. "Bobby?"

"Well, you put us in touch," she explains.

I nod, following now. Bobby took my recommendation and called her.

"I guess you liked my resume after all, but you didn't think I was the right fit for this position. So you called your friend and told him to hire me, and he did."

"You are Virginia," I say.

She nods. "Yep. Virginia Holiday."

"Damn it," I say. "You left because of that? You think I didn’t like your resume, but I wanted to sleep with you? What kind of guy do you think I am?”

She shakes her head. “I’m sorry. I was being stupid. I think I was insecure about not getting hired. And after putting all that time into my application and my degree and...”

“Ginny,” I say, running a hand over her cheek. “Everything I said to you was true. I had no idea who you were when I met you at the bar. Now I know you’re also really fucking smart and talented and clever in ways that I didn’t get to dive into that first night.”

She swallows. “Does that mean there might be another night? Another chance?”

“Is that what you want?”

She nods. “I really, really do. I hope you do too."

I grin. "Good," I say, giving her a kiss full on the lips, drawing her to me. "Fuck. I hated that you left like that."

"I'm sorry," she says.

"Are you always so good at running away?" I ask.

She looks up at me. "No, I promise."

"Good," I say. "Because I don't want you to go again, ever."

"Ever?" she asks.

"You heard me," I say.

"In that case," she says, stepping away and walking over to the bay of windows that look out of my office.

She closes the blinds one by one and then turns to me and unties the belt on her jacket. "Do you remember the other night? You told me your fantasy?"

My eyes widen. "Yeah," I say. "I remember.”

“You said you wanted to take someone on your desk, sweep all your papers aside, and fuck them on this tabletop." She taps her fingers to the top of my desk. The hardwood.

"Damn," I say, looking her up and down.

She smiles, tossing her head back, her hair falling over her shoulders.

"What do you think?" she asks, the trench coat falling to the floor.

I step toward her, my cock raging hard. "I think you look incredible."

And she does. She's wearing a red pair of lacy panties, a pushup bra that squeezes those perfect tits of hers together. She is wearing a pair of black heels, stilettos.

"I want to make your fantasies come true," she says. "After all, you made all my dreams come true the other night."

I groan in need, desire, want. I step toward her, pulling her to me, picking her up. I sweep all that paper aside and sit her creamy ass down on my desk. "Fuck, I want you."
