He clamped a hand over her mouth, smothering them, to keep them from echoing through the corridor of the bunkhouse, possibly waking up his brothers or the prospects.

Releasing her nipple with a wet pop, he replaced his hand with his own lips, capturing each cry, each pant, each whimper. He claimed each and every one of them. They were his to keep whether she meant them to be or not.

She slammed her pussy against him over and over, her hips surging and twitching, one hand releasing his hair and digging into his ass.

Oh yeah, she was close.

But so was he.

Then he followed her right off the edge, swallowing her groan and giving her a grunt in return. She twisted her head to break the kiss as they both waited for the waves of their orgasms to subside.

The second they did, she shifted under him, indicating he needed to remove his weight, to let her go. To set her free.

Clenching his teeth, he held her there for a few seconds longer with the urge to shake some sense into her too strong. He rolled off her before he actually did it.

As always, while he slid the full wrap from his cock, she slid from his bed and got dressed in a hurry. She didn’t take the time to clean up in his tiny shitter, she just pulled on her clothes and her shoes so she could jet as fast as possible.

But tonight, he was faster.

He quickly tied off the open end of the wrap and let it fall wherever his fingers released it, surging from the bed to catch her before she left.

His heart was pounding, no longer from the sex, but from what he was about to do.

He was done with the way things were. Shit needed to change, whether she wanted it to or not.

As she reached for the knob, he slammed a hand against the door to prevent her from escaping. “Tess.” When she tensed, he slipped his other arm around her waist, pulling her back tightly against his chest. “Hold on.”

“This is not how this goes, E, you know that.” Her words came out breathless.

Had she been waiting for him to take a stand? Had he been an idiot and let it go for too long without challenging her?

He tucked his nose in her long, loose hair and took a deep inhale, the familiar scent of her shampoo filling his lungs. “Says who?” he murmured against her ear. “Who the fuck’s makin’ these rules?”

She jerked against him, most likely trying to get free. “It’s easier this way.”

His brow dropped low. “For who?”

She inhaled deeply and released, “For both of us,” on a breath.

He shook his head and tightened his arm around her waist. “Speak for yourself.”

“I am.”

“I could approach Trip.”

Silence. An answer louder than words.

“You ain’t willin’ for me to do that, then we need to quit this.” He needed to put his boot down. Make it clear that he wasn’t going to put up with this anymore.

More silence stretched between them.

He finally broke it. “‘Cause I’m not willin’ to meet my fuckin’ maker.”

Or have a date with The Punisher.

“I… can’t. You approach my brother and expectations will be made. Expectations I’m not ready to deal with. Are you?”

Expectations I’m not ready to deal with.

There it was.

All the years of using women only for sex coming back to bite him. And the bitch named Karma had some sharp-ass teeth.

He closed his eyes for a second, sucked a long breath through his flared nostrils and said, “Gonna be gone a few nights. Headin’ to Jersey to pick up my new sled.”

No surprise. No excitement. No disappointment.

Nothing.

Absolutely fucking nothing.

He shouldn’t have expected anything different.

He dropped his arm from her waist, reached past her and opened the door.

Without another word she slipped out and disappeared.

He fought like fuck to not slam the door behind her.

A battle he barely won.

Chapter Four

Tessa moved quickly and quietly down the dark corridor, sticking to the shadows, listening for any opening doors. Or the footsteps of anyone wandering to or from the shared bathroom, the back door or The Barn.

Normally this time of night was safe. After Whip busted her one morning at five and a few other close calls, she learned to be out of the bunkhouse by four.

As soon as she stepped outside, she inhaled the late April early morning air in relief.

Her head was spinning with the shit Easy said. With his questions. Not to mention, the fact he actually offered to approach Trip.

What the fuck was he thinking?

He wasn’t. He’d see that in the light of day. He’d realize how they were handling it was for the best.

This thing between them was only supposed to be temporary, a way for her to simply scratch an itch. Out of everyone, she thought Easy would be the most willing to keep it that way. A loose and easy arrangement.
