Blood & Bone - Easy (Blood Fury MC 12) - Page 42

He’d been worried about Trip and hadn’t even considered the two women most protective of Tessa. The two women who were determined to keep Tessa on a straight and narrow path.

Jem because of Dyna and Stella because of Trip.

Honestly, all the women because they considered each other “sisters.” They all looked out for each other.

Tessa might not be an ol’ lady but both she and Saylor were part of the sisterhood solely due to the blood that ran through their veins. The women in the sisterhood held power in their own right. Especially since they all bent the ears of their ol’ men and their ol’ men were Easy’s club brothers.

So yeah, if he hurt Tessa, it would be a domino effect. With him being the last domino to fall. A fall that would hurt like fuck and possibly change his life forever.

Don’t piss off a pack of women. Ever.

“Gonna tell you what I’m gonna tell Tess when I get back to the house… Givin’ you two a month to figure shit out.”

“You don’t get to make that decision.”

Cage raised an eyebrow. “Don’t I? Like I told Tess, I’m holdin’ all the cards right now. No matter what, I’m always gonna do what’s best for my family. And Tess is a part of my family now. I’m grateful that she stepped in to help my baby girl like Dyna was her own when Jem left. I hope she’ll help take care of my future sons or daughters, at least ’til she’s got some of her own. For that, I’ll go to war for her. Even if that war’s against you, brother.”

Chapter Eight

They decided to head to New Jersey first, grab Easy’s new sled and load it in the back of the newer van they used for the pet crematorium. The one they could conveniently remove the side magnets advertising the business. They switched out the registered license plate to a dead one they kept on hand for any kind of incognito shit.

Tioga Pet Services not only made the club money, paid Cassie, Easy and Shade a decent salary, it also served a purpose for times like these. Getting rid of evidence, including bodies—other than beloved pets—by the way of the incinerators and windowless, full-sized vans.

That business was the best purchase the club had made so far. Deacon was a goddamn genius.

Sometimes.

Other times, not so much.

Another purchase Trip had mentioned making—once they replenished the funds in the club’s account after wiping it out recently—was Hillbilly Hill. If they could find a way to pull it off, it would prevent the Shirleys, or any other inbred goat fucker in the Guardians of Freedumb, from returning to the mountain. The Fury would own that land, fucking the self-proclaimed “sovereign nation” for a second time.

He caught bits and pieces of discussions that Reese and Fallon would look into it and get it in motion, if possible.

Fucking karma at its finest.

If they pulled it off and the club took possession of the mountain property, that would be a great place for Easy to eventually land. Much better than cluburbia where half of his brothers and their ol’ ladies lived.

Easy had no ol’ lady or kids, so right now he had no reason to live in the “white picket fence” wonderland. But a cabin up in the woods? That would be cool. And he was damn sure he wouldn’t be alone. Whip already said something about him and Fallon building a place up there.

But right now the immediate future needed his attention, not one farther down the road that might never come to be.

He was dying to straddle his shiny new ride currently strapped down in the back as Shade drove the van from Millville in south Jersey, through Delaware, into Maryland and finally to the outskirts of Baltimore. A boring as fuck two and a half hour drive.

Taking his sled out for a spin would have to wait until he helped his club brother settle a very old score.

Shade hadn’t said much on the way to Jersey or even on road to his sperm donor’s house. But they really needed to form a more detailed plan on how they were going to deal with Daddy fucking Dearest.

Over the last few years of working together Shade had told Easy, in bits and pieces, everything that happened that day in the parking lot of the mall. The day a four-year-old boy’s life changed forever, the day his own fucking father turned on his own damn son and his child’s mother.

After hearing all of that, Easy realized Shade was right, they had no other choice but to do the same to the man who started it all.

Would Shade’s father end up standing naked at the front of a room as he was auctioned off to the highest bidder? Unfortunately, no.
