My hands fly to my mouth, and I barely hold the scream in.
He holds the beautiful diamond ring up to me. “Haven, I love you. I’ve always loved you. We may have started as friends, but I want it all with you. I want to be your friend, your lover, the person that protects you and is there for you. I want to be your husband. Will you marry me?”
I tackle him. There’s no other way to say it. I dive onto him, pushing him backwards, wrapping my arms around him. I know we look crazy on the floor of the airport, but I don’t even care. He pushes me to my back and hovers over me. “Is that a yes?”
I’m smiling and crying all at once. “Yes. Yes, I’ll marry you.”
He leans down and presses his lips to mine. Only when he pulls away do I realize he’s put his ring on my finger. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
We kiss and hold one another until the airport security comes to ask us if we’re okay. We are laughing as we walk out of the airport, hand in hand, planning our future together.
