Vengeance of The Fallen (Twisted Legends Collection 1) - Page 47

I haven’t seen a gym here yet, but I’m certain there’s one. The house is so big. I haven’t had a chance to explore every room yet. Back in the bedroom, I turn left and head for the attached bathroom. The color scheme flows from room to room, and the dark tiles make the space seem warmer, cozier.

A large shower sits in the corner, while a black porcelain bathtub is perched on a tiled platform which is beside a window. I can imagine lying in there, enjoying a bubble bath while taking in the view. Two mirrors sit above the two basins, while the black cabinets hide underneath. I pull open the doors as curiosity takes a hold of me.

Nothing but some toiletries, and towels.

I shouldn’t snoop, but learning about one of the men who have held me captive is essential. At first, I wanted so badly to escape, to run for my life, but my feelings have changed somewhat.

What they did is wrong, but I find myself intrigued by them. When they fucked me, when they claimed me, I was lost in euphoria. I had never met a man who could offer me what I needed. My body craves what they can give. But they’re still dangerous.

There’s no telling what they’ll do to me once they get to my father. The end game was always to kill me, I have no doubt. The hate they hold is not unwarranted, I get it, but I’d also like to live.

I move back into the bedroom, before taking one last long look around. When I shut the door behind me, I turn to the right and find the next room. Shoving open the door, I note with ease it’s Falcon’s space.

One wall is filled with books. From floor to ceiling. He has a rolling ladder which allows him access to the top shelves. His room is furnished in browns, soft, gentle colors, along with olive green which offers warmth. It’s like walking into the log cabin in the middle of winter, with a fire roaring in the background.

His bed is decked in a dark brown comforter, the pillows a similar green to his eyes. There is a door to the left of the bed which leads onto a balcony, but I don’t open it. It’s cold enough in the house.

When I find his closet, I notice it has the same color scheme as Crow’s, all blacks, dark grays, and only a handful of crisp white shirts. Everything else is dark.

I feel like Goldilocks, in the home of the three bears as I explore each of their bedrooms. I’m not sure I want to see Hawk’s room. I have a feeling if I’m caught in there, I’ll be shut back down in the basement.

He hasn’t accepted me into the home. Not like the other two have. Their anger is still apparent; however it’s not completely focused on me. They’re now solely fixated on finding my father.

In saying that, I think I’ll refrain from looking for Hawk’s bedroom. Perhaps in a few weeks, if I’m still here, and alive, I’ll find the courage to seek it out. I sit down on Falcon’s bed, the scent of his cologne overwhelms me. A woodsy fragrance which reminds me of the forest after an evening of rain. The fresh, excitement of a new day.

I smile to myself when I think of Falcon. I know he’s a killer, but I feel safe around him. More so than the other two. Crow is addicted to the kill, to the darkness. He’ll devour me whole with a smile on his face.

With a quick glance at the time, I note it’s almost two in the morning, and exhaustion plagues me. I lean back on the mattress and rest my head on the pillow. I know I should go to my own room, but I want to settle here for a little while.

“Wake, wakey, Goldilocks,” Falcon’s amused tone jolts me. My gaze snaps open to find him grinning down at me. “If I didn’t know any better, I would think you wanted me to eat you,” he tells me with a chuckle.

My cheeks heat in embarrassment. I must have been more tired than I thought. I figured I’d have a rest, but not fall asleep and not wake up.

“I didn’t know when you guys were coming home,” I tell him. My voice is scratchy, my head is throbbing, and I’m ready to fall asleep again. It’s still dark out, so it can’t have hit sunrise yet.

“I’m tired, so either you stay there and sleep beside me, or you leave now,” he says then, “Either way, you have five seconds before I slide into bed behind you.” When I don’t move, he merely shakes his head and smiles. His warm body nestles behind mine, and he wraps an arm around my waist. “We’ll talk in the morning.”
