I try not to think about what he said. I know that Jack didn’t screw his assistants, but I can’t shake the silly jealousy. I find a coffee shop and pick up an iced coffee and a donut because I need some food in me. I’m starving and really want something hearty, but I’ll have to wait for Jack. I need to be heading back.

When I get back inside the hotel, I remember that I forgot to take a key card. Great. I decide to sit in the lobby and hope Jack comes looking for me.

Chapter Eleven

Jack

“Where the fuck is she?” I snarl, waking up to my wife completely missing. Storming around the suite, I can’t find her anywhere. Panic sets in and I look for her trackers on her phone, but it says she’s in the suite. Fuck, her phone is right here along with her purse, but her wallet’s gone. I call Carla, her bodyguard.

“Carla, where the fuck are you?” I bark into the phone.

“Following your wife. She left early this morning with her wallet. She’s shopping in the store down in the lobby.”

“Oh. Okay. Keep an eye on her. I’ll be right down.” I look at the clock and realize it’s already ten on Sunday. I slept half the morning away, but she didn’t bother to wake me up before cutting out. Why didn’t she take her phone or anything?

“That woman is going to get it the second I get my hands on her for leaving our bed.” Her phone beeps, and it’s a message from someone named Val. I open the message and I see the text exchange from the other day and the new messages between them. This must be the ex.

We need to talk tonight. Miss you.

Okay. Miss you too.

No, the fuck you won’t be talking to this asshole. I dial the number, and a woman answers. “Hey, girl, please give me all the details with the hot boss. Did he drag you off to get married?”

“Details? Where the fuck is her ex-boyfriend?”

“Oh shit. Why do you have her phone?”

“My wife forgot it, and let’s just say I wanted to end their relationship for her.”

“I knew it.”

“Knew what?”

“You would find a chance to marry her in Vegas. She doesn’t have a boyfriend, but if you hurt my best friend, I’ll find a way to destroy you, Jack-ass.”

“She doesn’t have a boyfriend, even that ex?”

“Nope. I knew you wanted her. She didn’t believe me. I figured it wouldn’t be a big deal if she had a fake boyfriend. It wards guys off and makes the right one work for it.”

“Well, she’s taken. Now I need to find her ass because she forgot her phone in the room. Just so you know, she’ll be busy for the rest of the day. Too busy to be calling. Maybe after she’s well rested she’ll give you all—well, most—of the details on her hot boss.” I end the call, grinning from ear to ear.

I leave the room with my wife’s phone in my pocket because I’m going to have some fun with her ass for making me a jealous fucking mess, but first I need to kiss the hell out of her. It’s been hours since I’ve had my mouth on her and I need my fix.

When I finally get to the lobby, I see the younger Wilbanks on the ground holding his balls and Carla protecting Petra. Shit, my secret’s out in the open too.

“What the fuck is going on here?” I snarl, grabbing Petra and wrapping my arms around her to protect her myself.

Carla’s the first to speak. “He got a little too fresh. He thought he could pull the moves on her. She kicked him in the nuts, and then I shot him with my taser.”

“Good. I ought to kill you myself for putting your hands on my wife,” I snarl down at the pathetic bastard.

“Do you care to explain who she is and why I see her everywhere I go? I thought it was a coincidence by my apartment, but this is too much.” I believe she already knows the answer, but she wants my reasoning.

“I’ve hired her to protect you when I’m not around.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

“God, I love you.” I expected her to be mad, so I’m floored and pleased with her reaction. She throws her arms around me and we kiss wildly. I grip her ass and carry her back toward the elevators. I pull my lips away long enough to tell Carla to deal with this asshole and get back to me later.

“Yes, Mr. Shaw.”

“Come, wife. I have to show you how much trouble you’re in for leaving our bed this morning and messaging your ex.”

“Oh…about that.” I crush my mouth to hers to stop her from explaining. No, I want her right where I have her so I can fuck the hell out of her before I reveal I’m aware of her scheme to see if I wanted her. God, how could she have not seen it? Linda in HR mentioned it to me yesterday, suggesting I be careful or I could have a lawsuit on my hands. She had no idea what lengths I’d go to get Petra, and a lawsuit would be the last of my concerns because I’m pretty sure kidnapping is a felony.
