Down Fall (Fallen Duet 2) - Page 59

I was salivating at the sight of him, but I didn’t move. I stayed right where I was, soaking in every inch of him, and knowing that he was all mine.

He moved back, pulling the badge off his belt and placing it on my dresser. His gun followed, and then another device. He pushed down on the waistband of his jeans, letting them drop to the floor, and he stepped out of them, stalking toward me.

Words weren’t needed, not when the atmosphere was sparking so much it could light on fire any second. His erection bobbed with each step he took, and then he slowly crawled over me, placing his hands on either side of my head.

“I love you,” he said, and I’d never get tired of hearing those three little words.

One of his hands lifted, and he trailed it between us, rubbing his palm over my skin and making me groan. He stopped at my hip, his fingers moving round to my ass, and squeezed. A moan slipped out from the roughness of his fingers, and my leg lifted to hook around his hip.

I could feel his erection pressed against me, and as much as I wanted to feel his fingers on my clit, I couldn’t wait. I lifted my ass off the bed, feeling him against my opening.

“Lola—”

“Do it,” I urged, placing my hand on the side of his neck.

He didn’t waste another second, thrusting his hips, and filling me to the hilt. My eyes closed, my moan mixing in with his groan.

I was sure that nothing would ever feel this good ever again.

BRODY

I tapped my fingers on the steering wheel as I waited outside the diner for Lola and Cade. It occurred to me that I was picking up my son and girlfriend who were closer in age than we were, but I couldn’t bring myself to care.

It was different with Lola. There was something more, something I couldn’t explain no matter how much I tried. The number of years we’d had on this earth didn’t matter one bit. She’d been through more than your average thirty-year-old, and was wise beyond her years, but she didn’t let it bother her.

I hadn’t seen her in a couple of days, and the last time I’d slept at her house was the one night a week ago when Cade stayed over Moira’s. I wasn’t sure what to think about Cade barely going back to her place, but if the angry messages she was sending me were anything to go by, I’d say she wasn’t happy about it. I’d expected Cade to want to stay with his mom, after all, it was me who had cheated, but there was nothing she could do. It wasn’t like he was a little kid and could be told where to go. He’d be sixteen in a few weeks after school started back up.

A shadow in the diner caught my attention, and I grinned at Cade as he walked ahead of Lola. I could see the downturn of her lips as she stared at him, but as soon as she spotted me, she pasted a smile on her face.

I tilted my head, wondering what was happening, but had my answer when he pushed through the front doors and didn’t hold it open for her. What the fuck? I thought he was okay with Lola and me, but apparently not according to his sullen face. How had I missed that?

He pulled open the passenger door and pushed the seat forward, waiting for…was he waiting for Lola to get in the back? Lola hesitated a second and stepped forward.

“No.” I shook my head and held on to the back of the passenger seat as I glanced over at Cade. “Get in the back.”

“What?” he asked, his voice trying to be a growl, but it came out more like a squeak. “She can get in the back.”

“She has a name,” I ground out. “And you’ll respect her by getting your ass in the back of this car.”

“Why?” He crossed his arms over his chest. “She’s smaller than me—”

“She’s also my girlfriend and four months pregnant.”

Cade’s eyes widened, and Lola’s shoulders slumped as she groaned. “Brody.” She covered her face with her hand. “We were meant to do that together.”

“Yeah, well, that was before my son thought it was okay to not hold the door open for a woman and to try and force her in the back of the car.” I kept my gaze trained on Cade, already knowing I shouldn’t have told him in that way. But I didn’t have any control when it came to Lola. My past showed that.

“You knocked her up?” Cade asked, turning around to look at Lola. “You trapped him?”

I growled so loud they both jumped out of their skins and turned to face me. “She didn’t fuckin' trap me.” I slammed my hand down on the steering wheel. “Jesus, Cade. You know Lola. You really think she’d do that? Not to mention, I didn’t wrap it up.” I pointed at him. “Make sure you wrap it up.”

“Is that the extent of your sexual education?” Lola asked, her brow raised and a small smile on her face. “No birds and the bees?”

I shrugged, trying to hold back the grin that wanted to break free. “It’s all I got, kid.”

“Sage advice though, old man,” she volleyed back.
