A Chance Encounter - Page 84

When I was trying to decide which way to take my career, I interned for a few different firms. I learned quickly that family law wasn’t for me. I had envisioned all the children I would save, but I didn’t consider all the nasty people I would have to deal with. A few weeks in and I was ready to bolt. I tried out a few other firms, but nothing felt right.

And that’s when Easton’s dad mentioned Entertainment Law. Three years, a law degree, and a bar exam later, and I was hired by Blackwood Records. I love my job and what I do there, and most of all I love that I get to spend plenty of time with Easton.

Phoebe whines and Easton walks into the room, scooping her up into his strong arms. He comes over and presses a kiss to the top of my head, then hands me my baby girl, so I can feed her, watching in awe as she latches on and sucks.

“What?” I ask.

“Nothing,” he says, “I just can’t imagine what my life would be like had you not found me.”

It’s funny, to this day Easton says what we have is because I found him, but he has it all wrong. He might’ve been lost, but I was alone. In a city filled with too many people, I felt like I didn’t exist. Sure, I had Naomi… I still do—she’s married to Dante and they have a beautiful son who’s close in age to Camden.

But it wasn’t the same.

With one look, one moment, one kiss, one touch, he saw me.

He says I found him, but the truth is, we found each other.
