“Post about it on Reddit. Create a fake account and see what they suggest you do,” she urged.

I could do that but… “Then there’s always going to be a physical blueprint of my premeditation to steal his truck away from him.”

“It’s your truck, Sabrina. Grow some balls and figure out how to get it back.” Banger stood up and started to reach for her jacket that she’d taken off immediately upon entering the door.

Banger rode a moped.

Banger looked like a badass in leather half the time, then climbed onto that moped and looked like a weirdo.

Not that I’d ever tell her that.

“And don’t tell me that you can’t, because you can. That money you’d get for the truck is worth it. You paid off sixteen thousand dollars on his truck, and then eight on his school loans and credit card debt. That truck is yours. Or at least the majority of it is yours.” She headed to the door. “Don’t be a fuckin’ pussy all your life.”

With that, she left, leaving me staring at where Banger had just exited for way too long to contemplate.

But she was right about one thing.

I needed to figure out a way to get that truck back.

I needed a new car. And instead of buying a new one with my money, I’d paid off his stuff.

Yeah, that wasn’t very smart of me.

In the end, I did exactly what she suggested.

I got onto Reddit, explained a little about my situation using a false screen name, and had all the suggestions come pouring in.

In the end, it was only one such suggestion that had me the most interested.

The scheming had commenced.

I had a plan. One that was practically foolproof.

Like usual, something went wrong with Cole’s truck because he liked to act like he was a mechanic.

And, like more usual, he had it pulled to the same shop that he took it to at least once every four months.

I looked at the innocent white spark plug in my hand and grinned.

The Reddit user had told me exactly how to take out the spark plug so it wouldn’t start.

He’d also explained, in complete detail, what I would need to do to get Cole’s truck back.

Starting with how to sneak on their property, how to take the spark plug out, and what to do when he towed it to the shop.

I’d done the hard part… at least the hard part that would’ve thrown me in jail.

Now it was down to my hard part… talking to some random man that I’d never met before and get him to agree to my terms.

The only problem was, I needed to explain a few things as to why… and I knew that was going to be hard for me.

I didn’t like feeling like a dumbass. But when it came to Cole, I definitely felt it.

So, on shaky legs and with a spark plug in my hand, I walked quickly up the length of a dirty and cracked parking lot that led to the most run-down-looking mechanic shop in the city.

I barely made it up the length of the driveway on foot—scared to make the trek in my car because my car was already a POS. But if it fell into one of the potholes in the parking lot, it’d be doomed—when an older gentleman with a black shirt, greasy dark-washed jeans, and black boots that were so caked in mud and dirt that you couldn’t even make out the boots’ color, came out of the door.

“Can I help you?” he asked.

I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to stop where I was, but I didn’t.

I continued up the walk until I was standing about four feet away from him.

“Umm, yes.” I paused, clenching my hand around the spark plug. Then, taking a deep breath, I extended it out toward him. He looked at it, then took it before I said, “I can explain.”

His bushy eyebrows rose up to his hairline.

“Then get to explainin’,” he suggested.

I crossed my arms over my stomach in my usual defensive position, that was a clear indicator I was uncomfortable. Then began with my story.

It was only after I explained about paying off my ex’s truck, and then us breaking up, that I ended with my proposition.

“I’ll give you five hundred dollars to keep his truck and act like you don’t know what’s wrong with it,” I offered.

There was a moment of silence, then the mechanic’s gaze caught on something behind him, making my heart start to slam.

I turned slowly and was surprised to find Price standing behind me, taking my breath away.

My mouth opened on its own volition, awe filtering through me at the sight of all that… man.

Cole had been an attractive guy.

Perfectly built, strong, muscular. Blond and blue eyed.

Pretty much, he’d been everything that I had ever wanted.
