“What happened?”
“You’re not going to be happy about it,” he said.
I leaned my ass against the brick wall and switched the phone to my other ear. “They’re going to come and arrest me, aren’t they?”
“You? No. But they identified a suspicious looking person on the surveillance footage from Isaac Aldean’s crime scene.” He sighed and I could imagine him running his hand across his closely cropped, military style haircut. “They just brought Damian in for questioning. He’s not being arrested, but he is now considered a person of interest.”
“You have to be fucking kidding me!” I yelled. “Damian is the easiest going guy I’ve ever met. I don’t think he could hurt a fly!”
“You barely know him, Dahlia,” Sterling protested. “It could all be an act.”
“I don’t think so.” Pacing the concrete, I held my phone in a vise grip of anger. “I would know if he were some deranged psychopath.”
“How?” he asked. “How would you know that?”
“I just would.”
“Well, for your sake, and his, I hope you’re right.”
