Not once has a single one of those women caught his eye.
Penelope tilts her head, nonplussed. “Want to bet?”
Elias stares down at the hand she has extended. “You’re trying to bet me that I’ll meet someone?”
My girlfriend nods. “Yes. You’ll meet someone, and it’s going to hit you like a Mack truck. Then you’ll come crawling to Jack and me for advice.”
Elias laughs. “You sound way too confident for someone who has no idea what she’s talking about.”
He’s not wrong.
Penelope has no idea what his track record is and how many women he’s dated that he had no actual interest in. But it’s fun to watch them spar; go back and forth arguing.
“You sound scared you’ll lose,” she taunts, the champagne giving her a bravado I rarely see in her.
“Fine.” He holds out his hand and clasps it in hers. “You have yourself a deal.”
