Beautiful Monster (Dark Lies Duet 2) - Page 26

“That’s a good girl. Let me have it.” I encourage her while removing my hand from her throat and guiding her to rest her head on my shoulder. I cup the nape of her neck, gently petting her hair until her body and pussy relax.

When she’s completely done, I give her G-spot one last stroke for good measure. Siân jerks from the sensitivity, and I have to fight back a laugh. After a beat, I carry her over to the mattress and place her on the center of it. She crawls into the fetal position with her back to me.

I stand right and run my hand down my erection to hopefully make it go down. There’s no time to tend to my needs right now. But sure enough, when I finish meeting with my father, I’ll be ready to chase my own release.

“If I have to tell you to keep that ring on your finger again, you won’t like what I do next. But if you behave yourself, I’ll give you some time with your beloved caretaker.” And with that, I leave her to stew in her thoughts, satisfied that I know her better than she thought I did.

Once on the other side of the room, I lock her inside and head to my father’s office with her scent still on my fingers. I pushed into the room to find him sitting behind his oversized desk, a cigar in hand and a stack of papers in front of him. The farther into the space I get, the more I can see that there are pictures. Of what I don't know yet. But whatever has him flustered, his face is expressionless as he pulls a drag from a cigar.

“Can we get some work done now that you’ve had a quick fuck?” he asks while staring at me nonchalantly.

“What do you want?” I say instead of what I really want, and I hate it. I hate him talking about everything. For the way he is, for the things said out of his mouth about Siân.

But I don't react. I don’t give in to his tactics and instead take the seat in front of him. He pushes the envelope across the desk, and I catch them before they fall.

“I need you to handle this.” He takes another drag of his cigar.

I pick up the images, completely unfazed as I flip through one after another. Bodies. Dead and mutilated. Some of them I recognize, and others I don’t. Bullet wounds, severed limbs, guts sliced open. The normal type of shit we see in this life.

“What is this?”

“That's what you're going to find out. While you've been away, chasing your little bitch—”

“Fucking watch it. Keep her name out of your mouth.”

“Or what?”

I stare for a moment, and when I don’t offer him a retort, he continues.

“While you were out chasing your new wife-to-be, shit’s been going crazy here. Someone has been going around Mulan and the surrounding cities taking out families. Who, I don't know. But I need you to figure it out.”

I dropped the photos on the surface. “I'm interested. It seems the people in these photos are people we’ve been trying to get rid of for a while. Seems to me like whoever this is, is doing us a favor. Sloppy but good work.”

“Christian. His work isn't the fucking point. He's taking out families, which means if he's going after our enemies, who's to say he's not on his way here now.”

“Then let them come.”

He shakes his head. “How was your little fight?”

When I glare at him, he holds his hands up in surrender.

“What goes on between Siân and me isn't your business. The only thing you need to worry about is the family. What do you want to do?”

“We need to figure out who this is and stop them. They haven't made their way over here to us yet. But who's to say that they're not.

“And when they come, we'll handle them. We have the biggest fucking organization throughout all of Italy.” I don’t have to tell him what I’m referring to. He knows every detail of the events that started all of this mess. He wanted what Marco had, his territory, and as a result, we own half of Milan. Everybody in the Giuliani organization either joined our family or met their leader in death.

“I’ll see what I can find out. But I have to admit, he does nice work.”

“Dammit, Christian. Stop admiring the sick bastard.”

I laugh. “Sure. But who do you think it is?”

“Besitos.”

I shrug. “It’s not their style. I don’t see the Espositos, but then again, it’s not like them either. Every major crime family is in these photos. Tesla hasn’t been a part of shit in forever, so I highly doubt he has the balls to go after everyone on this list.
