EPILOGUE

Eighteen months later...

ELODIELOOKEDATLincoln, talking to Nina in the garden of their London home. He was smiling at something his mother said, and Nina’s face was shining with love and happiness and, yes, even good health.

Nina’s cancer had gone into remission, and so far things were tracking well. It was a miracle—one they were all so very grateful for. Elodie had grown increasingly close to Lincoln’s biological mother, and had found Nina’s support during her rising career as a designer invaluable. Her first show had been a phenomenal success, and she was feeling more fulfilled than she had ever dreamed possible.

And speaking of miracles...

Elodie’s gaze drifted to her twin Elspeth, sitting beside her devoted husband, Mack, each of them holding in their arms a cute-as-a-button baby girl—identical twins called Maisie and Mackenzie. The besotted love on the new parents’ faces said it all, and no one could have been happier for them than Elodie—especially since she and Lincoln had their own special news to share.

Lincoln came over to her and slipped an arm around her waist. ‘Shall we tell them now, my love?’

‘Oh, my God, you’re pregnant?’ Elspeth cried out in delighted joy. ‘I just knew you were keeping a secret from me.’

Elodie’s smile almost split her face in two. ‘Yes—ten weeks. We wanted to wait until we were a little further along, but my tummy is already about to pop the zip on my jeans.’

Lincoln stroked a loving hand down the back of her head. ‘We’re expecting twins. Too early to know the sex.’

Nina didn’t bother hiding the tracks of the tears pouring down her face. ‘Oh, my darlings...you’ve made me the happiest person alive.’

Lincoln smiled down at Elodie, his expression so full of love it made her heart flutter. ‘Our babies couldn’t wish for a more beautiful and loving mother. And I couldn’t wish for a more beautiful and loving wife.’

Elodie blinked back tears and grasped his hand, held it against her cheek. ‘I love you.’

He bent down and placed a soft kiss to her lips. ‘I love you too. Before, now and for ever.’
