“She made me go to St Bart’s. What could I do?” He held his hands up.

Connor stared down at Magnus’ groin.

“What the fuck are you doing?” Magnus asked.

“I’m just seeing if you have any balls left or if Leila has them tucked away in her Chanel clutch.”

We all laughed.

“Just wait, fellas, till you’re married. You’ll see what I mean.”

“God, help me when that day comes,” Connor added, hanging his head low.

“Not me. I’m getting sick of fucking around, but Jesus, it’s hard to find anyone decent in this town,” Ari said.

“Maybe if I can escape, I’ll join you,” he said.

“Did I hear a trip coming up?” Magnus and Ari’s ears pricked up.

“I don’t know if I can, boys. We’re an editor down, and I’m pulling more slack,” Connor added.

“Well, give me a yell if you boys want to catch up.” I stood, my chair gliding back on the wood floor.

“Seriously, man, congrats on the sale. I know you don’t like the praise, but you did well,” Connor said, and he meant it.

“Thanks, bud.”

I waved goodbye and disappeared down the ninety floors to the busy Manhattan streets to my waiting car.

“The helipad, Billy,” I said as he closed the door behind me.

Maybe the Hamptons wouldn’t be such a drag if I checked in on Lourde and her cocky boyfriend. A smile pulled from the edges of my mouth.
