It’s just that she’s left her laptop open a few times and I couldn’t help noticing she was browsing her old wedding boards on Pinterest. It could be because of the Lavin Bridal campaign, sure. However, there’s still that small chance that she’s wishing for the whole deal. After being disappointed so epically once, it’s only natural that she’d be a little worried about the concept of forever. Forever used to make me nervous, too. But now it’s the only word I can think of when I look at Mya. I want her to know that.

Plus she was once planning to marry bad-sex-ex and like hell if that guy is going to beat me at anything.

Which has me thinking about Vegas.

Mr. Lavin did say to call if I ever needed anything.

Epilogue

It’s been exactly one year since I was last on this same private plane flying to Vegas. That time I was nervous and unsure about where my life was heading. Now I’m in love and getting ready to see the most important campaign of my career up on a billboard. The only thing that hasn’t changed–

“OH MY FUCKING GOD, WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!”

Milo chuckles and grabs my hand, the one that’s not squeezing Chelsea the stress cow. This is our routine whenever we have to fly. I spend the entire time cursing, hyperventilating and making deals with God about what I’ll give up if the plane lands safely, while Milo holds my hand and tries to distract me.

To be honest, just looking at him is usually enough. Especially when he’s making those bedroom eyes at me.

He’s let his hair grow a little longer at my request, and it falls rakishly around his face. But most importantly he’s happy for me.

I can’t believe this is my life.

A few hours later, I wake to find that we’ve landed. Groggy, I sit up slowly and look around. We weren’t the only ones on the flight, apparently Mr. Lavin had a friend who needed a ride back to the West Coast, too. But the sweet older gentleman who rode with us is gone and so is the flight attendant.

Milo is in the aisle next to me.

Down on one knee.

“Mya, I love you. Every day since you came into my life has been an adventure. An adventure I don’t want to end. I know you’ve been hurt before, planning a wedding that never happened. But I want to assure you there’s no way that will happen this time. Because I want you to marry me today.”

“Today?”

He grins. “Yes. Right now, in fact. We can spend the next year planning the perfect wedding but I don’t want to wait another minute for you to be my wife.” He pulls a box from his pocket and flips it open. A beautiful antique gold ring is revealed.

“My mom sent me this not long after I told her about you. It’s my grandmother’s ring.”

With shaky fingers, I stretch out my left hand. He slides the ring on my third finger and it goes on like it was made for me.

Kind of like the man.

Somehow he knew my unspoken fear of planning another wedding that might not happen. And now he’s made it so my worst fear is impossible. Because I’ll be planning a wedding to the man who is already my husband. As always, he’s three steps ahead looking out for me.

Unlike when he first asked me to move in, I don’t bother trying to play it cool. I launch myself into the aisle, bowling us both over in the process.

“Yes! Yes! Yes! I can’t wait to be your wife. I love you so much.”

He wraps an arm around my waist. “I love you, too. Everything has really come full circle hasn’t it?”

I look around. “Just a year ago, could you have predicted that we’d be back here? In love and engaged, for real this time. Are you sure you’re ready for this?”

“No but that’s the fun, isn’t it? Whatever comes, we’ll deal with it together.” Milo is, as usual, completely confident and absolutely the love of my life.

#husbandgoals

Epilogue

You thought that was it?

Hell no. Because my lady deserves a lot more than just a Vegas wedding. She deserves the whole she-bang. Especially the bang.
