I told the guys staying behind to make sure every door was locked, bolted, and watched closely. Matthew, the one I trusted the most out of the five, was stuck on door duty should Scarlet wake up and wonder where the hell we had gone. I couldn’t believe the effort we were going through just to make sure she didn’t get upset. We told the guys that we wanted her watched to make sure she didn’t try to run, but between the three of us, we knew they were keeping her comfortable and safe.
We were worried about her.
I didn’t know how it had gotten to this point. From the moment I’d seen her big blue eyes, I knew she was going to be trouble. She was broken, and we were going to try and heal her. I just hoped she was able to heal us as well.
