“Because we can’t wait until you get rid of that fucking birth control and we can all compete as to who gets to knock you up first.” I lifted my head from between her thighs and winked at her before getting up to get her a towel from the bathroom.
After cleaning her up, she climbed under the covers, and I curled my body around hers. She kissed my chest and then looked up at me.
“I’m nervous about tomorrow,” she admitted, barely above a whisper.
“You can always change your mind,” I told her, gently pushing the hair out of her face. “I’d love to show up with you, see the shock on his face before I blow him away for the mess he created.”
I still struggled to get past everything that had happened. It seemed Scarlet was able to compartmentalize better than I could. She could see him as a separate entity from all the death that had happened…all those men we lost that night. I still saw red every time I thought about him, and I definitely wasn’t a hundred percent convinced that she should go meet him on her own.
“I love it when you get all murdery,” she laughed, running her hands up and down my bare torso. Her eyes sparkled in the little bit of city light that was coming in through the window. “But he’s just doing what he thinks he has to do to survive. And I’m sure I’ll get more answers from him tomorrow.”
She yawned and rolled over, shoving her ass into my groin and wiggling it.
“Feel free to wake me up in the middle of the night for some fun,” she said over her shoulder. “Just don’t expect me to be quiet this time. I like sharing.”
