The orgasm and mid-day nap help me more than I realize. I am too old for working two jobs, but I don’t want to leave the girls in a bind until we find someone else. So, I’m here, despite wanting to crawl back into bed and sleep for days.

“Hey, so an officer came by my place looking for Dean,” I tell Skylar, joining her in prepping. “Didn’t recognize him, but I thought it was strange.”

“Did he say why?”

“That he’s investigating a missing person from the area.”

“Dean isn’t from this area.”

“That’s what Da— um, that’s what I thought.”

Damn, I almost said Dash told me the same thing. Skylar won’t judge me, I know that, but I’m not ready to tell her or anyone else I finally gave in to Dash. And that I keep giving in.

“We can ask Seth to check it out,” I offer, knowing Dash is already doing that.

“Yeah, but we need to do our own investigating. Stand as a club outside the Bastards.”

I agree. We can’t always rely on them for everything. Otherwise, what are we doing besides running a bar and being on their payroll for the laundering service?

“My son is pretty good on a computer. I can ask him to look into the guy. He won’t ask questions.”

“Sounds good to me,” she says, stifling a yawn. “Sorry. Working two jobs is exhausting.”

Skylar is also a nurse for the club, working full-time during the day at the clinic. Plus, she has a baby at home. I’m certain she’s more exhausted than me.

“I know the feeling. I had to take a nap today. A fucking nap. I don’t remember the last time I had one of those.”

“Lina assures me we’re going to hire some help. Jake isn’t crazy about me working here, especially when he’s out on patrol or making a delivery. Hunter feels the same way about Allie. Besides, I miss being home with our daughter.”

“I bet Allie feels the same way about leaving Wes. You both need to be with your babies, not slinging drinks here.”

We finish up as Davina walks in. She’s grinning as she props her elbows on the bar. “Guess what? I found an all-male revue to come do a performance.”

“Like strippers?” I ask.

“Yep. We can do a ladies’ night and have them perform strictly for the girls, then open the bar to regular patrons after.”

“I’m good with it. Doubt I can work that night,” Skylar jokes. “But I’m totally good with it.”

“I’m on board.”

“Perfect. I’ll see when they’re available so we can get everything arranged.”

I fill Davina in on the officer, just so I’m not leaving anyone out. She’s good with me letting Ryder check into him and wants a report the next time we have church.

For all our sakes, I hope he doesn’t find anything suspicious. The last thing we need is a cop on our asses about Dean.
