She flings the coat off me and pulls her shoulders back, making her already large tits appear bigger. “I’m good, Max. You can go back to where you came from.”

My jaw ticks as I grind my teeth. The fuck she’s not going with me. I’ll fuckin’ blow out the brains of every fucker in this room and let their blood flood around her ankles to prove there are no limits to what I will do to have her. My life for the last ten years has only been about her. Everything I have done has been for her. Now that I have her, I’ll never fuckin’ let her go. “You’re leaving with me whether or not you like it, Malishka.”

“You don’t own me, Maxim. You don’t get to come into my place of work and tell me what I can and can’t do.”

The hell, I don’t.

I bend down, wrap my arm around her knees, and hoist her over my shoulder. I lock eyes with Mikhail and nod, letting him know it’s time to go. Axel, Ronan, and Kian are sitting at the table, all lookin’ like they’re watching a super bowl halftime show, but if I need them, they’ll be ready.

Mikhail pulls Michael by him to ensure we get out without bullets flying. There will be hell to pay for putting a gun to a Don’s temple, but I’ll worry about that another day.

I head towards the exit, and as I’m about to push on the large oak doors, six big men in black suits stand in front of me, each holding a semi-automatic rifle.

“Get out of my way,” I growl. My blood is pumping in my veins, and relief tangles in my heart. I’ll burn this whole place down before I let them keep me from Samira.

“You can’t come in here and take one of my girls,” Michael says.

I don’t turn to face Michael; I focus on the men guarding the door holding semi-automatic rifles. “You’re awfully brazen for a man with a gun pointed at your head. One word from me, and you’re dead.”

“You won’t kill me because the minute your man here shoots his gun, my men shoot you all down. We’re looking at a stalemate here.”

All I can focus on are his henchmen, holding their military-grade rifles with a dark gleam lingering in their eyes. I recognize that look. It’s one of hunger, greed, and perversion. I’ve seen it many times in the last ten years, usually in the irises of men with no morals and no compassion. Fear, something foreign to me since that night ten years ago, twists in my gut with the dawning that nothing about this situation is going to be good and that in the end, I might be the one who hurts Samira too. Like all the others.

I tighten my hold on Samira as I turn around to face Michael. I’m trapped. The target is at my back and directly at my front. “What do you want, Michael?”

Michael shrugs, his lips turning up into a twisted grin. “But a show, of course. That’s what all these fine gentlemen here paid for, after all.”

He’s a dead man. I’m gonna get Samira out of here, and then I’m going to cut this motherfucker until his own mother won’t be able to recognize the chopped-up pieces of his flesh. I’m also gonna make it hurt.

“How about I just pay you,” I say as calmly as I can, desperate to hide the disdain in my voice.

“I don’t need money, Maxim. You want to come into my place and start shit? You need to pay for it with your flesh.” He points to the stage. “Right up there, under the lights, for everyone to see. Truth be told, I’m being lenient. I could kill you and then let everyone have a go at your little whore. But to keep the peace, I’m asking that you be the one that fucks her and you alone.”

Yup, I’m gonna kill the motherfucker. It’s not a matter of how. It’s a matter of when.

“I don’t get a say?” Samira’s voice shocks both Michael and me as it booms like thunder in the room.

Michael barks a laugh. “No, sweetheart. Whores never get a say in anything. Now let’s not waste any more time. Up on the stage you go.”

I walk toward the stage, my legs shaking with the knowledge of what I’m about to do. My biggest worry is that she’ll never forgive me, that she’ll look at me with hate and contempt in her eyes. After all, I’m the reason she’s here. If I hadn’t been a selfish prick, maybe things would have been different for the both of us.

Two men drag out a mattress. God knows where it came from. I glance down at it. At least it looks clean.
