“She is with Sebastian now,” he says.
“Excuse me?” I ask, tilting my head at him.
“He came to see her earlier and then he took her back to his palace, she wanted to spend the night there,” he says cautiously, conscious of my sudden annoyance.
“How dare he!” I exclaim. “Why did you let him take her?”
“It’s not my place to stop him,” he says with a huff. “For all intents and purposes, he is her father now,” he reminds me.
“You are more her father than he is,” I cry. “You should have stopped him!”
“What is the big deal, Aefre? She will come to no harm,” he says, totally not getting it.
“The big deal is, Constantine, that I don’t want her being taken away from me. He should have waited to speak to me and get my permission. I am her mother,” I say hotly.
“Oh, I get it,” he says softly. “Aefre, he isn’t going to take her away from you. He just wants to spend some time with her, and she wants to get to know him as well.”
“Well, I don’t want that,” I say and brush back the tears.
“I know it hurts, my love, but you have made your decision to let Sebastian claim her, now you have to see it through,” he says soothingly.
“Why are you being so pleasant about it?” I ask with a pout. I had hoped he would be in my corner and not want Kalen to have his claim on her.
“Because I know it isn’t real,” he says. “I know that she isn’t really his, so I can deal with that.”
“Oh,” I say and cuddle him as he looked in need of one as he said that. “I have to go to her now.”
“I know,” he says and lets go of me. “But, Aefre, let her stay if she wants to.”
“It’s not fair,” I complain with a stamp of my foot.
“No, it’s not, but it is what it is,” he says.
“Fine,” I grumble and Astral off to the Light Fae palace.
The Light Fae Kingdom, September 2014 - Sebastian (Kalen)
He watches his daughter playing in the room he has had made up for her.
His daughter.
It still feels so weird, and he can’t help the pain he feels either, but he knows he must push it aside as it isn’t Delinda’s fault.
There is a knock at the door, and he calls out, “Enter.”
A servant rushes in and says, “Princess Aeval is downstairs requesting your audience, Your Majesty.”
Sebastian smiles to himself. He knew she would come.
“Tell her I will be down in a moment,” he says and stands up. He kisses Delinda’s head and tells her he will be back soon. She nods at him and continues with her game.
As he walks slowly out of the room and down the corridor to the stairs, he settles his nerves. It took him all of five minutes to get over the anger he felt when he realized that Pyleah had meddled with Aeval’s head. The goal lines have been set now and he must see this through. She is so strong, but he can do this properly now. He is stronger him
self now that he is King. He will work on her slowly, but insistently. Swaying her mind on that level will take four steps.
Four, easy steps and she will be his:
I wish you would choose me;
