LucaandJacksonwere constantly invading my senses with their scents. All I could smell was chocolate, champagne, clean linen and I didn’t get it. I took an extra tablet and reapplied my lipstick—it wasn’t working. But it worked with my old boss Jeremy Hanson, an alpha too. It also worked with Sandy, my female alpha boss.
I closed my eyes.
Use your mouth, not your nose.
I didn’t smell Jackson that night, at least not in this way. This was deep, heady, and overwhelming.
Jackson’s scent that night wasn’t this strong, unless it was because too many scents in the club overfilled my senses. Or maybe it was the alcohol—was alcohol the secret ingredient?
It was something that night.
I needed to consider that.
Because of these two, I couldn’t turn in any direction to get away from it.
I placed my lower lip over my upper lip in an awkward pout and blow the lipstick aroma into my nose. But for these two men, even the neutralising lipstick on my lips was failing in its job.
“You okay, Tilly,” Luca said, his voice smooth and sexy as he appeared. His deep brown, large almond-shaped eyes, the full brows, the line of his nose, the high cheekbones and razor-fine jaw, all sharp angled countered by the flawless curve of his lips—he was the most beautiful man I’d ever seen.
“Yeah,” I said. I mean, it was an out-and-out lie, but I could hardly say no. Or admit they were making me wet and horny and I needed to get out of there.
Because I wanted them. And if they got into a crazed alpha rut, I’d probably join in rather than run.
“Can I ask you something, Tilly?”
“Of course, Luca,” I said. He tilted his head to one side and smiled when he heard his name.
“Could I take you out for dinner tomorrow evening?” he asked.
“Oh,” I whispered. “You’re my boss. Isn’t that against the rules?”
“We make the rules,” Luca said.
“I think I’m going out with a friend.”
“Clubbing,” Jackson said.
As I contemplated an answer that wasn’t appearing quickly. “Just a couple of drinks at home.”
“Are you lying to me, darling?” Jackson whispered into my ear and a squeak left my mouth. What was it about him when he did that? I knew there were unspoken words he wanted to say. I knew he wondered why I left him in the lurch.
“Tonight,” Luca said.
“Tomorrow.” I really was going out with Isla tonight night but I could hardly tell them that. “Tomorrow is fine. My friend will be fine,” I said. “Where should I meet you?”
Luca picked up my hand and lingered his nose too long over my skin before his lips puckered and he gently kissed my knuckles. “I’ll pick you up at six.”
“I’d prefer to meet you somewhere,” I pushed.
“I know where you live, six o’clock, and I know you’re safe.”
He knew where I lived.
HR records, Tilly.
I agreed to dinner with an alpha, a tall, dark, and handsome alpha. Opposite in looks and personality to Jackson, but just as dangerous. I wondered what Jackson thought of that.
Ahh... They aren’t just business partners, they’re in the same pack.
Interesting.
