I rested my cheek against his shoulder. The clean, familiar smell of him calmed me.

“No. I think I’ll be okay,” I murmured. “He’s dead. He can’t hurt me again.”

“If you change your mind later, you tell me.” Between Bron stroking my hair and Ilya rubbing my feet, I started to nod off.

“Shutting down the business might take a while. We may not be able to go home for weeks or even months,” Bron said.

“I don’t like keeping her here,” Ilya said. “Maybe our brothers really are happy to be rid of him, but they were raised in a treacherous house. Who knows what their plans truly are?”

“I agree. I think you should take Delilah home and keep her safe there. I’ll come to you as soon as things are more settled.”

“I don’t like leaving you alone here, either.”

“She’s the priority.”

I drifted off. Later, I half woke when someone moved me, but I burrowed into my spot between two warm, muscular bodies and fell right back to sleep.
