Savage Heart (Wreck & Ruin 2)

I’d done such a good job of convincing myself that I didn’t want Hunter, that the pain and the ache inside was from the need to get revenge, and not because of how broken I felt without him.
I’d always believed you couldn’t love a monster but here I am, proving that wrong. This love wasn’t a fairytale, it was a disaster, one built on betrayal and lies but we keep on tumbling, further and further into that rabbit hole until there will be no way out.
“You trust him in this?” Kingston asks.
“In this, yes.”
He sighs heavily, “Fine. We do it his way, but the moment there’s even a sniff of trouble, you take Eleanor and get the fuck out, do you understand me?”
“Yes, Kingston.”
“Promise me, Belle.”
“I promise, I’ll get Eleanor out.”
He narrows his eyes. I wouldn’t promise I’d leave too. That went against everything I’d built myself to be.
He lets it go though and an hour later, we’re sat in the den, Kingston on one end of the room and Hunter on the other. Eleanor and I sit in the middle.
“I made contact,” Kingston confirms, “They’ll be arriving within the week.”
“Okay, three days is all we have to get them and everyone else up to speed, we hit next Wednesday.”
“Why Wednesday?”
Hunter smirks, “They have this tradition, once a month they gather at HQ and,” his eyes slide to me, lip curling in disgust, not at me but at his next words, “Enjoy what they have.”
Eleanor gasps.
“It’s like a reward for their employees, and also a time to punish any of those who stepped out of line. This is of course public, and after, they bring several girls up.”
“We want to hit them before they do that so we can get them out,” Kingston says.
“Correct,” Hunter confirms, “But we need a big enough distraction to keep the festivities at bay.”
Kingston nods.
This was the part of the plan I was probably most worried about.
There was a lot that could go wrong here. Too much and the consequences? I wasn’t willing to have those.
