*** Amber ***

I like my new sister-in-law a lot. She is short but feisty, firm but loving and she is going to make an amazing Luna. The strength of her bond with my brother has left me in awe. I believe she will love him and make him happy and content.

I feel my brother and Preston coming closer to us, but Eva doesn’t realise what the pull is yet. She stands agitated at the windows, peering out, trying to see something that isn’t apparent to the naked eye just yet. But when Preston’s car comes into view, she runs to the front door which she swings open despite the rain outside.

When my brother steps out of the car she runs to him, he catches her and lifts her to his chest as she winds her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck and they never break their kiss. Wow! They kiss like no one is watching as the rain drenches their bodies.

Meanwhile, Preston and I stand a short distance apart from each other. It feels so awkward between us. After looking at my brother and his mate for longer than necessary, I look at my own mate.

“I missed you more than I could ever tell you, Preston. I am so sorry for being cold and distant. I don’t want that anymore, I want you.” He looks down on me and as I see the hurt and vulnerability in his eyes, I feel my own eyes well up.

“I miss you too, Red, but look, I’ve been thinking. I know you don’t trust the Mate Bond so I have been thinking of other ways we can be together and make a commitment to each other.”

“Preston, I am going to ask Aiden for a Mating Ceremony.”

Flabbergasted is the only word I can think of to describe the look he gives me.

“Preston are you okay?” He nods slightly, it seems I’ve shocked him into silence. “I want us to be mated and marked and declared as one in our own ceremony in front of our whole pack. I want you, Preston, I want us. Please tell me I am not too late.”

“I was going to ask you to marry me.” I am confused, we are werewolves not humans, it’s humans who get married. He must see my confusion because he continues to explain. “I was trying to think of a commitment we could make more privately outside of our bond, something you might feel more comfortable with. You are my mate, Amber, but I love you whichever way you want to do this. I just want to be with you.”

Tears fill my eyes as I take in what he’s saying. “I love you too, Preston.” It’s the first time I have ever said those words to him. The fear I have always felt at those words melts away as I accept it fully: I love him, and he loves me back. Where I had always worried about being weakened, I feel strength. As we kiss in the rain, I feel our bond finally knitting together as the Moon Goddess intended seven years ago, and I thank her for bringing Preston back to me and giving me a second chance with her blessed gift to me.

My brother's voice brings us both back to the real time and place and this time there is no animosity from him; he is playful and happy.

“Get a room you two, and congratulations. I am happy for you to have a Mating Ceremony and I will of course give my blessing to you getting married.” He looks at us with warmth in his eyes, showing me he accepts us as a couple and there will be no more kicking Preston out of my bed.

“Get a room yourself, Alpha, we were following your lead.” As my mate teases my brother, this feels so good, so right.

“Oh, I intend on it. You two go home, leave your teams here and I will be back tomorrow. I am staying with Eva tonight.”

“Yes, Alpha,” I say and I go to my brother and thank him, and then I hug him tight when I remember he had been missing and now he is safe.

“Your mate will tell you what happened but go and be happy, Amber. Preston will be loyal to you.”

“I know, Aidy, I know he will.” I feel more confident in my own decisions with each passing second. I always thought happiness would hurt but it feels amazing instead. Preston comes and takes my hand like he has done a hundred times or more but this time there is an audience and I do not shy away.

As we drive back to the Onyx River Territory, Preston tells me what happened.

“As I stood there explaining myself to Alpha Martin, Alpha Xavier walks in and tells me his idiot son has lost the plot and thinks by taking Aiden hostage he is showing his father that it is his turn to be Alpha. The kid is an absolute loop job. Alpha Xavier apologised and thanked Aiden for not killing his son, but an argument broke out and there is a definite war brewing between us and The Moon Stone Pack. We have to start preparing the pack.”

“Aiden should have come home with us; he needs to show he is safe and explain what has happened,” I say to my mate.

His smile confuses me. “He’ll be back in the morning, Red, and he will hopefully be bringing his own mate with him. He wants her near him so he can protect her, he’s asking her to live with him tonight.”

I am overjoyed for my brother and Alpha; he has found his mate and is taking what he has waited an eternity for.

*** Eva ***

As I see the car pull up, I cannot hold back. I run from my house until I see Aiden; only then am I able to breathe again, and despite the rain and the late hour, despite the fact the neighbours may be looking and judging me, I run to him. I wrap myself around him, my legs and arms wind around him and he groans in satisfaction as my lips smash over his.

“I thought I had lost you; I was so worried Aiden,” I tell him in between kisses.

“I’m here now, and I never want to leave you again. Eva, come and live with me, you and Summer. I will look after you both, I will love you both. I don’t want to miss another moment with you.”

I know I had said earlier I needed to be cautious, and I needed to think but there is nothing like a stressful situation to bring to light what you truly want, is there? I know now that my future is with Aiden, and I never want to live a moment without him either.

“Yes!” I tell him, frantic with need and overwhelming desire for Aiden, for us. He holds my face in his huge hands.

“You’ll live with me? You’ll move to the Onyx River Territory and be my mate?” I nod at him, and relief and excitement overcome his face. “You’ve just made me the happiest wolf alive, Eva.”

As he starts to walk to my door, I giggle in glee. “Aiden, stay the night, stay with me here, please?” His eyes almost turn black and his erection strains against my core because my legs are still around his waist.

He shouts at his sister and Beta to get a room and is told to get one for himself. My face flames with embarrassment, but Aiden will not let me down.

“I intend on getting a room,” he says to them as he looks into my eyes, stirring up the now familiar yearning in my tummy, the feeling that only Aiden can cause. I don’t think there will be any more going slow; I want him, I need him, and I think he wants me too. He is everything to me now and I want to give everything I am to him, heart, body, and soul.

I hop down while Aiden gives his instructions and I go inside and draw him a bath, swirling in some muscle soak, and I put a couple of fluffy towels on the side for him. He comes in and wraps his arms around my waist from behind and places hot kisses along my neck and shoulder.

“Did you run this for me?” he asks me in surprise. When I nod yes, he holds me closer. “Thank you. I can’t remember the last time someone made me a bubble bath. I could get used to you pampering me like this, and I could do things like this for you too.”
