“If you don’t want me to undress you right here in the courtyard, I would back up, Shortie. I want you so desperately and Roman does too.” I giggle at his jest but from the smouldering look in his eyes, I think he means every word he says. So, I step back and hold his hand instead. The last thing I want is an audience whilst Aiden and I are doing many of the things I have been fantasising about all day. He chuckles at my response.

“I know you want it too, so you can stop acting coy with me,” he whispers to me, and my face becomes hot as it reddens with embarrassment.

“Aiden!”

He laughs at me, and I end up joining in. “Come on, we’ll take a buggy car down to the forest so you and Roman can meet.” He leads me around the side of the building, and I see another building, a garage, I think, which is obscured from the front by the packhouse.

I am impressed as Aiden locates his off-road buggy, and I feel like GI Jane as I try to climb up into it.

The drive down to the forest is rough and bumpy, explaining exactly why Aiden took this vehicle and not his usual one, and I start to feel relieved when I see the trees thickening.

Aiden shuts off the buggy and laughs at the look on my face. “You’re looking a little green there, Eva. Is it the buggy ride or the fact that you’re going to meet a real-life wolf in a couple of minutes?”

“It was the ride. But I’m excited to meet Roman so the ride is worth it.” I watch like a voyeur as Aiden undresses. It’s a view I will never tire of.

“Ok, I am going to shift now, Shortie. If you get scared or miss me, shout my name and I will shift back. I love you,” he says as I hear his bones cracking and elongating. The first time I saw this happen, I fainted, but that was a different time and place, and a totally different person.

Now, I watch in awe as Aiden’s body transforms. Roman’s fur is the exact colour of Aiden’s hair: dark, glossy, and almost black, but where Aiden’s eyes are like emeralds, Roman’s are like pools of molten gold.

He stands tall, probably as tall as me right now while he is on all fours. I think any sane person would be scared senseless, but the pull towards Roman is overwhelming.

“There you are, my big, beautiful wolf. I am so glad to finally meet you,” I tell him as I wait for permission to stroke him. He nearly knocks me over when he nudges my hand for more of my touch, and I can’t help but laugh at the giant beast before me as he attempts to be gentle towards me. His acceptance makes me so happy that I feel like I am purring in contentment, right in my chest.

Wanting to get closer to him, I sit on the floor and eventually lay down while Roman lies across me, covering me in goosebumps and shivers from our connection. He licks me with his rough tongue which feels wet and dry at the same time.

After about half an hour of chatting away with Roman, he nudges me, like he wants me to stand, and as I do, he knocks me over and I land with a thud across his back.  Not giving me any time to catch my breath, he starts to race along the footpath with me on top of him. At first, I am terrified: what if I fall? What if I am too heavy for him? But after a couple of minutes of the wind blowing through my hair and Roman carefully jumping over falling tree trunks and rocks, I start to really enjoy my ride.

I settle on his back with my legs either side of him and my arms wrapped around his neck. “Faster!” I shout through my laughter, and Roman, the dutiful wolf and mate, complies. When we get back to our original starting point, he lets me down and I thank him for a fun time before kissing him on the nose and head.

“I love you so much Roman, my gentle giant.” He gives my face another lick before he shifts back into human form.

When I see Aiden looking down on me again, I run into his arms and kiss him like I haven’t kissed him for eternity.

“That was amazing! I loved meeting Roman, I love that I have you both as mine. It is incredible, Aiden. I’m just sad I don’t have a wolf that you could share too.” I let my head fall back while Aiden continues to kiss me down my neck and to my clavicle.

“You are perfect for me and Roman just as you are, Eva, you are more than enough for us.” My core pulses in desire at his words and his approval. “I want to show you one more thing before I take you to bed, Shortie. Think you can last that long?”

His teasing tone makes me raise my eyebrows. “I happen to have all my clothes and I’m not the one standing to attention, Alpha… think you can last that long?”

He laughs in reply. “Good point. I’ve got to tell you, Shortie, I love it when you call me Alpha. It makes me ache to be inside you. Only when you say it though, it’s so sexy when you say it.”

He’ll have to be quick with his ‘one last thing’. Yearning like I have never known courses throughout my body, pooling between my legs. leaving me feeling agitated with a hot need. It’s such a new sensation for me, and I feel paranoid when Aiden’s nose twitches. I know he has a hypersensitive sense of smell, and it wouldn’t be the first time he has smelt my want for him.

“I want you too. Stop trying to mask it, I can smell you from miles away. That arousal is all mine, baby, all mine to satisfy and revel in.” I throw his clothes at him whilst laughing at his surprise.

“Get dressed, Alpha, you have one last thing to show me, remember. Then maybe I will permit you to fulfil my… requirements.” He laughs back but I notice that his eyes are almost black with need, and his erection hasn’t wavered at all. He slowly pulls his clothes back on, giving me plenty of opportunity to see and admire his perfect body.

Once he is dressed, we walk hand in hand to a different part of the forest. We are right on the edge of the trees, looking out at the pack house and the snow-capped mountains in the background.

“You’ve already seen my apartment. There is plenty of room there for us all for now; however, I know living in a pack doesn’t come natural to you and Summer, so I have started work on the Alpha’s cottage which we can use too. If you look out there next to the packhouse, you can see it. It was my childhood home before my mother left and I want to change all those sour memories and make happy ones with you.”

Awe fills me as I rest against him. “Thank you, Aiden, it is perfect. Our family home together. I can’t wait for forever. When do you think we should move in? Should we give your pack more time to get used to the idea of me?”

I am talking like I have real options here but if I delay moving in with Aiden, then I need to find a home for Summer and me, and fast. We will become homeless in less than fourteen days, but I will not rush into moving in with Aiden to prevent that.

“I don’t want you to go back to your house ever again. The pack will come around, but we aren’t going to win anyone over if you aren’t here to do it.”

I think about his words and wonder if I have what it takes to win them over? What if they never accept me?

I don’t know how, but I have to find a way. I can’t fail. I can’t live without him now, I need him like I need the air I breathe.
