The Alpha's Property - Page 63

*** Mrs Jefferson ***

My little boy cries as I wash his hair for him. His whole life has collapsed around him. He has lost his home, his wife, his child, his income, his mistress. Poor Ryan. I had insisted he had a bath the moment I saw him, but he was so distraught he couldn’t do it by himself.

I shampoo his hair; he really is in a state, and I feel like he is my little boy again: the little boy who cried when the bubbles went into his eyes, the little boy who made me Mother’s Day cards declaring me the best, and the one who stole my heart the moment I brought him into this world.

He is no longer that little boy, and I sometimes wonder if he ever was. How did that sweet little boy become this selfish, destructive beast with regard for only himself?

“Watch out, you stupid bitch, that hurt,” he shouts at me viciously and in a moment of clarity I realise he has to go; I cannot inflict the nastiness that is my son on the world anymore.

“Good,” I tell him as I hold his head under the water. “Good,” I say again as he struggles against me and the water slops over the side of the bath, filling the bathroom.

Ryan’s arms and legs flail and thrash and I wonder where my strength comes from when I realise my husband is behind me, helping me to hold him down too, the product of our marriage, our legacy and once our pride and joy.

As the life leaves Ryan’s body, I sink to my knees, but my husband continues to support me and continues to hold down the spawn of the devil, ensuring there is no way back for him.

“We should have done that when he tortured the cat, or when he burned down my mother’s house. We should have done it sooner.” My husband’s hard, truthful words echo throughout the bathroom. “He’s dead, he can’t hurt anyone else now.”

I wake up abruptly and cry when I remember my dream, but not because I am ashamed of it. I cry that it isn’t true and that the demon I gave birth to and raised is still inflicting his disgusting vileness in this world.

I feel the wind breezing past my face as I swing my sword downwards. I hit Ryan Jefferson at the junction where his neck meets his shoulder, slicing through with ease before pulling my sword out and placing it next to me. His hot blood gushes, spraying me in the face and all over my uniform, and like a savage I smile when it does.

“Alpha Aiden and Luna Evangelina of the Onyx River send you their regards,” I tell him, smiling as I bury my dagger into his stomach right up to the hilt. He makes an unpleasant gurgling sound in his throat before coughing blood up, large clots which splash my boots.

I yank my dagger free and watch as his t-shirt changes to a deep crimson colour within seconds. I think he is dead before he drops to the floor.

“That’s for all women everywhere who deserve to live without fear.”

I smile as I replay the scenario in my head. I hope I get to wield my sword against him for real, it could be the perfect mating gift for my brother and my new sister-in-law.

*** Aiden ***

As I chase him through the forest, a wicked satisfaction fills me from the fear that emits from him.

I pounce on him and in wolf form I easily overpower him. As he falls backwards, his head smashes against the earth and I hear the air being forced from his body. I open my jaw and sink my teeth into his throat and pull with all my might.

Ryan lets out a repulsive gurgling noise. His blood is hot and it soaks through my fur and continues to pump out at an alarming rate after his throat separates from the rest of his body.

"Consider that payback for what you put my girl through," I tell him as I watch the evil gleam disappear from his eyes. His chest no longer moves. He is dead.

I spit out his throat, but when I do, I realise I am still in wolf form. How did I talk if I am a wolf?

As I jolt awake abruptly, the sweat is pouring off me and disappointment hits me like a bucket of ice-cold water until I realise Eva is sleeping next to me. It was just a dream, unfortunately. I pull her body close to mine and she snuggles into me, bringing calm with her.

"I love you, Shortie, and I will make him pay. I will avenge you and our Sunshine".

As I drive along the secluded road into the human town, I imagine what I would do if I spotted the piece of shit Ryan Jefferson crossing the road. He treated my future Luna with such disrespect, I don’t even have to think hard about it. I would press the accelerator right down and brace myself as the car ploughs into him. I think his body would hit the windscreen, smashing it before he would bounce up over the roof and roll down, hitting the tarmac.

Before anyone could see, I would jump out and pull his body into the boot of the car, remove the plates and drive into an isolated forest. I would clear the car, set it on fire then shift into my wolf and go home and tell my Alpha that his mate is now avenged.

My Alpha would award me the highest accolades and my Luna would be happy.

My own mate would look up at me with adoration and pride on her face.

It’s nice for me to imagine getting the honours of wiping that scum off the face of this earth; however, I appreciate there are others who deserve the satisfaction more than I do.

*** Eva ***

I knock on the hotel room door and Ryan opens it; he looks shocked to see me but then gives me a grin. “I knew you couldn’t stay away from me. I am the only one who understands you, baby. I’m the only one for you.”

He makes my skin crawl; how could I have ever thought of him as handsome or sexy? How could I have slept with a slimeball like him… and even worse, I actually married him!

He invites me in and I sit on his unmade bed “Can I come home now, Eva? You’ve made your point.” I raise my eyebrows at him in disbelief. “Oh, I get it, you want me to apologise. Okay, I can do that. I am sorry for screwing Melanie, but you must take the blame too, Eva. You got pregnant and kept it, and I have needs, you know. I am willing to forgive you so I think you should forgive me. Can we move on and be happy now?”

I nod yes. I will be, I am going to be so happy now I have my man.

I pull out the bottle of champagne from my bag and he brings me two mugs. Apparently there are no glasses available. I pop the cork, careful to save it as a memento and then pour out the drink, handing his to him first, knowing he will down that baby before I have mine poured.

When he does exactly as I expect, I tut in mock annoyance. “I was going to make a toast, silly!” I tell him, giving him my full cup while he laughs, and I refill his mug. He takes another massive swig and belches as I raise my glass. “Cheers to the future. Here is to moving on and looking to a better and brighter future without you, Ryan.”

He starts to cough and splutter, his eyes water and look searchingly at me in panic. “I can’t breathe Eva, I can’t breathe. Quick, get help.” My heart quickens in excited anticipation. The poison is taking effect fast, just like I was promised.

I stand still and smile at him as he clutches his throat and gasps for dear life, falling to his knees in the process. His eyes bulge while his face and neck turn purple, and he starts to foam at the mouth.

A trickle of blood runs from his nose and the capillaries in his eyeballs burst, leaving them looking red and angry.

“I hope you rot in hell, Ryan, because that is where you are going. I want the last thing you see to be me, refusing to help you. I want you to know that you didn’t break me, I broke you. I win.”

He makes a strangled, grunting noise and eventually, after much pain and suffering he dies. I use the time to file my nails.

When I wake the following day, I don’t remember my dream at all, but subconsciously I feel happier and contented at the possibility of Ryan’s demise.
