“Oh, my goodness. This is perfect,” Royal gushed. She rushed over to the newly built crib and ran her hand over the dark, smooth wood.

She better like it.

It had taken us two hours to put the damn thing together. We had found out really quick that the reason we were here was because Apollo, Princeton, and Murphy were not going to be helping at all. They obviously knew what they were good at, and weren’t going to be stepping out of their comfort zone to h

elp build some baby furniture.

After sticking my foot in my mouth in front of Bristol, I had managed to shove a sub down my throat and act like I hadn’t just fucked up any chance I might have had with her. Her shocked face kept flashing in my mind, and I couldn’t help but feel like a piece of shit.

It had sounded like I didn’t like her, but I was really just not wanting Zig to give me or her shit about being together. I had been around the guys of the club all of my life, and knew they were relentless when they were teasing and joking.

Demon had taken on the role of being the supervisor of us while Zig and Zag messed around. Frost and I had been the ones to do all of the damn work. That was typical when Zig and Zag were part of helping.

“It looks perfect with the Stray Moonbeam we painted the walls.” Royal smiled wide. “Thank you so much for putting everything together,” she gushed.

Marco walked into the room and whistled low. “Damn, you guys are good. I thought for sure you guys were going to have to come back tomorrow.” He walked over to the rocking chair in the corner and sat.

“Luckily, the only things we had to put together were the crib and the changing table.” Demon grabbed the last of the trash off the floor and tossed it in the garbage can. “It’s been a long time since I had to put baby furniture together. It was a nice change.”

“Royal did have the first grandbaby for the club, huh?” Marco held out his hand to Royal, and she walked to him. She threaded her fingers with his and sank onto his lap. “Kane deserves the best.”

“Second,” Demon reminded Marco. “Remy and Delany have John. I won’t let Remy know that you forgot about your godson.”

Marco cringed. “We only see him a couple times a year. If Meg would actually have Remy come to Rockton more, I would actually see my godson more.”

“Because you don’t have the means to haul your ass to Leeds Square to see him, right?” Demon looked around the Kane’s huge bedroom. “Yeah, you barely got a pot to piss in.”

“I would love to meet your godson,” Royal gasped. “We could make a weekend of it and I’m sure Meg would want to come.”

Marco sat back and sighed. “We’ll take the jet one weekend, amore mio,” Marco promised.

What was it like to live a life where the words we’ll take the jet were normal to say? I loved Marco like a brother, but we were very much living on different levels of life.

Royal pointed at Marco. “Kane and I are going to hold you to that,” she warned.

“Speaking of Kane, where is he?” Frost asked.

Royal nodded toward the door. “Indiana and Fayth have him. They were in the kitchen with Bristol while they all took turns holding him.”

“Well, at least you won’t have to hire a nanny or anything. You’ll have plenty of people around who will want to help,” Demon laughed. “It was the same way years ago when we all started having kids. You guys all watched each other.”

Marco nodded. “One of the perks of having a close family. Though Remy and I were the ones who always seemed to be stuck with watching the younger ones.”

Zag, who was lying on the floor with his arms over his head, raised his hand. “You’re just mad because that one time Zig and I decided to see if we could make it to the gas station on our hoverboards.”

“Yeah, because you idiots didn’t tell me you were leaving, and I didn’t know you were gone until your mom came to pick you up, and you weren’t there.” Marco pointed at Zig. “It was you who thought he was smart to bring the charger for the hoverboard.”

Zig smiled wide. “I didn’t think it through.”

Marco shook his head. “Yeah.”

“What happened?” Royal asked.

Zag sat up. “We ran out of juice halfway to the gas station. Zig decided to pull out the charger, and that’s when we realized we didn’t have anywhere to plug it in.”

“Idiots,” Marco scoffed.
