When the waves of pleasure subsided, my knees gave out totally, and I dropped to the steps. Nyfain grabbed me just in time, hauling me up and draping me over his wide shoulder.

“Not as comfortable as you carrying me in your arms,” I wheezed, feeling like my bones had turned to liquid.

“I want everyone to see my prize. I want them all to see our combined cum leaking down your legs as I carry you back to our rooms. And when we get there, I’m going to fuck you again, and again, until you are hoarse from screaming my name. And then, one last time, I’ll make you call me alpha as you sob with pleasure.”

It was a wicked display of dominance, and it had me so turned on that I didn’t care when he did exactly as promised. I liked it, in fact, especially when we reached the second-floor landing and he decided he’d rather go to our sanctuary, the tower. He pulled me back into his arms then, and I basked in his fierce gaze, daring anyone to come close. Daring anyone to step forward and challenge the claim he had on his mate. I knew he’d meet the challenge ruthlessly. Just as ruthlessly as he’d protect me—or his child—from danger. He was every bit the nightmare alpha he’d said he was, and I couldn’t get enough of it.

The heat was already rising at that point, and I needed him again. Wanted him inside me so badly that I could barely form words.

Now that the coronation was over, though, it was time for this ruthless alpha to show his cunning.

It was also time to go to the faerie lands, and a thought I’d been ignoring and repressing was finally weaseling its way to the forefront of my mind.

His ex-fiancée was a member of the faerie court. I’d be seeing her.

Would I be able to stop myself from giving my own show of dominance and protecting my claim?

PART 3

TWENTY-EIGHT

Hadriel

“Ugh,” I said for the millionth time in the last three days, hanging over the railing of the sleek and fast and still-horrible faerie ship after another bout of seasickness.

One of Govam’s demons stood a few paces away, looking out at the sea, searching for the vessels that Govam was positive would come. He believed we’d be attacked by Dolion somewhere along this journey, our deaths made to look like an accident. After all, his biggest threats were all in this fleet. The new and former royals of Wyvern, the powerful wolf alpha, and the prized faerie sisters. Not to mention the dragons who could severely damage Dolion’s forces. The rebel demons had been vigilant in their watch.

It had been suggested that we go a longer route to try to avoid a possible confrontation, but Dolion had ships in plenty and knew our final destination—he could have his people waiting anywhere. Probably did, in fact.

The royal couple had been keeping watch too…when they weren’t fucking like rabbits. Or like dragons in heat.

My stomach heaved. The demon beside me gave me side-eye and moved another step away.

Finley and the king had taken three weeks to get their affairs in order before finally taking a very patient Calia up on her offer to visit her kingdom. The royal pair had left Weston’s beta in charge of the wolves and ground shifters, and a dragon from Micah’s village had been put in charge of the air. Most of the guards and army had stayed behind as well, to protect the kingdom.

“How you doin’, bud?” Vemar walked up and roughly patted me on the back.

“Ugh,” I said again, hanging a little lower. “Stop. Not funny.”

Vemar crossed his arms over his chest and turned, leaning his butt up against the railing. “Sailing is boring, huh?”

“Yeah, super fucking boring. Hanging my head over the side of the ship, trying to purge an empty stomach, is very humdrum. What a snooze.”

He nodded as though he agreed, clearly missing my very on-point sarcasm.

“One more day,” he said, turning again and bracing his hands against the railing, looking out at the sea. “No sign of any demons yet.”

The demon a few steps away ignored Vemar’s comment.

Three more ships accompanied us, carrying guards and staff and goods for gifts and trade. I was pretty sure the ships had been rented from somewhere, but I hadn’t asked for any of the boring details. I’d been too busy throwing up over the side of the very lovely but not any smoother-riding faerie ship.

“I’ll probably have lost another five pounds in that time.” I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand and straightened up a little, keeping my eyes on the horizon. That was what Dessia had said. Keep my eyes on the horizon to steady my stomach.

She was a filthy fucking liar, and I did not appreciate her laughing at me when I told her that.
