“Squeeze…harder,” he whispered, his throat bobbing.

I adjusted my hands, squeezing with one hand and my will while I dropped the other hand between my spread thighs. I worked my clit as I fucked Nyfain, lifting and sitting down onto him wildly, relishing in the power of this strong dragon under me, of this powerful alpha at my mercy, even if he was letting me keep him pinned.

He lifted my hips and pulled down as he thrust. The sounds of sloppy sex were interrupted by the door opening again.

“Is she choking him?” someone asked.

I felt a strange thrill at being witnessed doing something a little kinky. So maybe my dragon wasn’t the only one who enjoyed public displays of fucking. So what?

Nyfain didn’t let up. He thrust wildly, and I jerked my hips in his hold to get more friction. Almost there. I rubbed my clit and squeezed his throat.

“Come with me, Nyfain,” I commanded.

He groaned and shuddered as I hit my peak, that naughty feeling giving me a glorious boost. I exploded, crying out and falling against him. I released my hold on his throat, and he shuddered again, thrusting a few more times as he emptied himself inside me. Our release seeped down, over his balls, visible from our spectators’ vantage point. A territorial part of me liked them seeing me fuck my big dragon, knowing he was my alpha to use as I pleased.

As if hearing me say it, or maybe feeling it through the bond, Nyfain put his arms around me and held me close. He kissed me languidly, not at all hurried by the unwanted visitors.

“I really do hate to interrupt your…kill fucking, or whatever it is you’re doing,” Hadriel said nervously, “but we have an issue. Govam is certain we do, at any rate.”

Nyfain met my eyes for one solid beat, allowing me all his focus. “Time for duty,” he said softly. Louder he said, “Leave us so that we can get cleaned up. We’ll be out momentarily.”

“Yes, sire.”

The door closed with a loud bang, Hadriel not able to get away fast enough.

I leaned against Nyfain for a moment, resting my head on his shoulder and enjoying the warmth and comfort of him before I disentangled myself and pushed to standing.

“Govam’s instincts are on point,” I said. “He hasn’t been wrong yet.”

“I don’t expect him to be wrong about this, either. Dolion’s going to throw everything he has at us, and he’s not stupid. It’ll all be from the shadows.” Nyfain pulled on a loose shirt. “I suspect there will be assassination attempts at every turn from now on. Fun time is over. We’re heading into war.”

“Fun time is over?” I pulled on my clothes as fire roared through my veins. “Are you saying there’ll be no more time for fucking?”

He chuckled as he paused next to me, sparing a glance for the ruined desk. He pulled me in close and kissed the top of my head. “There will always be time for fucking, sweetheart. I want to try that choking thing again while you hold me down. That felt dangerous. I liked it. Kill fucking, Hadriel called it.”

“He’s right. Dragons are crazy.”

“It was your idea.”

I laughed as he grabbed the door and pulled it open.

Hadriel waited beside Govam with Vemar, Calia, and Tamara standing behind them. Calia peered around Hadriel, spying the desk.

“We’ll obviously pay for that,” I said quickly, vaguely gesturing.

She looked bewildered.

“Please, your highnesses.” Govam held out his hand, indicating we should walk to the front of the ship.

At the bow, one of the faeries held out a golden telescope. His face was blank, his eyes tight. This obviously wasn’t good news.

Nyfain gestured for Govam to take the telescope. He peered through it. A ship was on the horizon, large and black and familiar. Then he swung the telescope toward another ship approaching from the right.

“Well, fuck,” I said, putting my hands on the railing.

“Those vessels aren’t used for piracy,” Govam said, handing the telescope to Nyfain. “They are used for battle.”

“Would Dolion be on one of them?” Calia asked.

“Definitely not,” Govam replied. “He wouldn’t jeopardize himself on the water like this.”

Nyfain’s lips tightened as he studied each of the ships in turn. He then turned the other way, scanning. Finally he pulled the telescope away and handed it to Micah, who’d walked up with Weston. Someone had clearly gotten word to them.

“Check the back,” Nyfain said. “Make sure they aren’t closing in from all sides.”

“Yes, sire.” Micah took the telescope and got to work.

Another faerie, holding an additional telescope, took off the other way without a word. She’d scan the other side and also hopefully double-check the back. There couldn’t be too many lookouts right now.

“Those ships will have cannons,” Govam said.

“Range?” Nyfain asked.

“They’re twenty-pound balls. At max, we’re talking five thousand yards. Over two and a half miles. But for targeting and effectiveness, they’d need to be about a half a mile out. Half a mile, and they’d be guaranteed to get a hit. There might be reason to suspect they’ll have magical weapons. Demons are very rarely on good terms with faeries, but there are many places to get faerie magic.”
