“Well, I don’t know why you’re not out here riding horses and carrying around condoms, dude.”
He drops his head into my neck and growls. “Fuck.”
“I think I can do something for you,” I smile, releasing my legs from around his waist and stepping back.
“I ain’t wastin’ a fuck for a blow job, baby,” he growls, taking my jaw in his hands before I can drop to my knees.
“What if I want to?” I murmur, licking my bottom lip.
His eyes drop to it and flare. “Trust me, I love your mouth wrapped around my cock, but I need to be inside you more than I need that. Let’s go back to the house and you can shower with me. I’ll fuck you long and hard.”
I tremble. “That sounds good to me.”
He releases me and I take a wobbly step back.
I watch as he finishes up and then he takes my hand and walks with me towards the house.
“I have to ask, as big as this house is, we’re not all going to live in it...right?”
“No, we’re all gettin’ a place built as we speak, I’ll take you later. We’ll live here, but each of us has our own place. Dante and Elias have business to take care of and will be travellin’ for a while, so they’re not staying.”
“How did I not know this?” I say, eyes wide.
“You never asked.”
I slap him, and he reaches out and pulls me closer, bringing his lips down to mine. “You sure about all of this?”
I look up at him and smile. “Oh, I’m sure.”
I’m ready.
So damned ready.

“This is definitely it?” I ask, staring up at the massive mansion in front of me.
Lake nods. “If the name you gave me is correct, then this belongs to your friend and her husband. She has been living here for the last two years.”
I shake my head, confused.
He must have the wrong person. Maybe there is another girl with her exact name and date of birth living in this giant house. There is no way the Davina I knew would be living here. This is...this is the kind of life she could have only dreamed up in her wildest fantasies. Last time I saw her, she was running away from a gas station where she had shot a woman and let me take the fall for it.
How could you go from that...to this?
“It just doesn’t make sense,” I murmur, narrowing my eyes.
The house is three story’s high, with wrap around decks on the bottom and balconies on every room at the top. It has the biggest yard on the street, and for long stretches either side all you can see are rolling green lawns, perfect gardens, and water fountains. This place would have cost so much money, and only the kind of rich that you own whole islands could afford it.
We had to drive four hours to get here, but Lake is certain this is the right person.
I don’t believe it.
I can’t.
“Maybe we have the wrong girl,” Lake tells me. “Only way to find out is to go up there and knock. Come on.”
Nodding, we enter the huge patio coming off the front of the house. The wood creaks as we go up the steps and the furniture on the patio alone is enough to buy an entire house. We haven’t even entered the building yet.
Heart in my throat, I reach out and press the doorbell.
It takes a while for anyone to appear, but eventually the door opens and standing there, right in front of me, is Davina. There is no way we’ve got the wrong person. I’d recognize that face anywhere, because once, before all of this, she was my only family. We shared everything together. She was a sister to me, and I trusted her with my life. Until she decided hers was worth more than mine.
The way her eyes widen and her face pales tells me she was never expecting this moment to come.
The moment where I stood on her front porch and asked her to answer for what she did.
“Willa?” she squeaks.
Age has only done wonderful things for Davina. Her long, rich brown hair is perfectly shiny. Her blue eyes are clear and bright. She’s curvy in all the right places and she is wearing a sundress that makes her look absolutely gorgeous. Gone are the days of converse, faded jeans and tanks. That girl is nowhere to be seen. That girl, it would seem, has died.
“Davina,” I whisper, still in shock.
“You can’t be here.”
Of all the things I thought she’d say, that wasn’t it.
My heart hammers against my ribcage as I stare at her.
“You didn’t honestly think I’d never come and find you after what went down?” I say, my voice tighter now, my throat restricted.
“I...I have a life now, Willa. A life that has nothing to do with the one I left behind. You can’t be here. Please, my husband will be home soon, and he can’t...”
