Good Girl

He grabs me, shoving me down and I only just manage to crawl myself up into the hollow space before I hear the door open.
“Hi honey.” She says.
“Hey.” He replies. “How was your day?”
“Long. We’ve had to slash our project’s timeframe in half. I’m going to have to put in some serious hours over the next month.”
“Aren’t you doing that already?” He says obviously concerned.
“Not really. I mean. I am Dom, but I can hardly say no, what with the redundancies and all.”
“It’s not a criticism.” Dominic says.
“Good.”
“I was thinking of ordering take away for dinner.” Dominic says leaning back in his chair.
“You know I can’t stand that stuff. It’s so unhealthy.” She moans.
“But Eden likes it, and besides we could all do with a cheat day every so often.”
“I don’t need cheat days Dom.”
He sighs. “Fine, how about I make you a salad?”
“Fine.” She says. “Where is she anyway?”
“Who?”
“Eden.”
“Probably in her room. How am I meant to know?”
“Whatever.” She mutters. “Let’s do dinner early. I’m shattered and want to go to bed soon. I think I’ve got a migraine coming on.”
“I’ll finish this up then.”
“Thanks.” She says before I hear her click clack out the door.
And then I sit waiting until Dominic pulls me out. And god help me he’s grinning.
“That was not funny.” I say.
“Talk about a close call.” He says. “Wait a moment then you’ll be fine to go.”
I nod. “So, take out for dinner huh?”
“Unless you’d prefer a salad too?” He smirks.
“No thanks.” I say before half sauntering out.
