The Sheik's Siren - Page 40

When Shanta was completely changed, Faye lifted her up and bounced Shanta as she walked over to the beautiful crib, placing her in the center. She then stepped back, giving Zantar more room.  “You can touch her if you’d like.  She won’t break.”

Zantar looked at Faye sharply, then glanced back down at the little girl.  “She’s too small,” he growled.

Faye laughed.  “I thought so too when she was first born.  But she’s a tough little lady.”

Zantar reached out and, carefully touched Shanta’s fluffy hair, smoothing it down slightly.  “She’s beautiful.”

Faye smiled at the repeated comment, touching Shanta’s fleece covered foot.  “I think so.”

Zantar turned to look at her, his eyes heating up.  “You are as well, Faye.”

She looked at him, her eyes wide.  “I thought you were angry with me.”

He sighed and pulled her into his arms.  “I am.”  He then shook his head. “No.  I understand now.  You were trying to protect me.  And yourself.”  His arms tightened and he groaned.  “Yes.  I am still angry.  But I’m not sure why.”

Faye snuggled against his chest.  “I understand.”

As he held her in his arms, his anger eased even more.  Faye was here.  She was safe and…his eyes kept straying to the small crib.  He couldn’t see Shanta from this angle, but just knowing she was here…hell, he was still stunned.  A daughter!  He had a daughter!

His arms tightened around Faye.  Five hours ago, he hadn’t known what he was going to do if he’d ever found Faye again.  Now his path was clear.
