Having Faith (Maclean Mafia Men 2) - Page 34

Chapter Nineteen

Graham met Alastair outside his office very early the next morning. “What’s going on?” he asked.

“Dad has a meeting set up with that woman,” Alastair said.

“Why do we have to meet at one o’clock in the morning?”

“The fewer people that see her, the better.”

Graham nodded and followed his brother into his office. He waved when he saw his dad and a few of the other brothers before he walked to the bar in Alastair’s office and poured a drink.

“Boys, she’ll be here soon. Don’t be shocked that she has a couple of men with her. She never goes anywhere without them. They won’t let her. I will do all the talking,” Angus said. “And I want to remind you to never talk about this meeting or about Legacy.”

Graham nodded and sat off to the side.

After thirty minutes, Graham could tell everyone was getting impatient and tired, and he wondered how long they would have to wait before he could go back to bed.

Angus reached for the phone on Alastair’s desk when it rang.

“That’s fine. I want a perimeter and everyone on high alert while our guest is here.”

Angus set the phone down. “She’s coming in now.”

Graham sat forward when there was a knock at the door, and Blake opened it. He was surprised to see an average-looking but beautiful woman instead of the Amazon he’d been expecting. She was slim, maybe five feet and six inches tall. Her hair was back in a tight ponytail, and she wore black jeans, a t-shirt, and boots.

Graham stiffened when two huge men also dressed in black followed her in, closed the door, and stood there with their arms crossed and their eyes on the woman. Graham was six-foot-three, but he’d guess these extremely muscular and tattooed guys were six and a half feet tall.

The woman went to his father and bent down to hug him.

“It’s good to see you again, young lady. I’m please you’re looking healthy.”

She smiled. “You mean instead of dead?”

His father laughed while one of her men growled and the other scowled.

“Come and have a seat so I can introduce a few of my boys. I only brought the ones in that the situation affected.”

She sat and nodded. “Thank you.”

Angus went through his sons’ names and introduced them to her.

Graham nodded when she looked his way, but otherwise, he kept silent.

She pointed to her men. “These are my guys. They don’t like for me to give out their names, so I call them Huey and Duey.”

One of them snorted, and the other one shook his head.

She chuckled and turned back to Angus. “I know you’ve told me some of it, but I’d like to hear the story.”

Angus went through what had happened so far.

“I’ve heard of Rizzo,” she said. “But I don’t know a lot about Lorenzo Moretti.”

“I feel he’s as bad if not worse than Rizzo for the simple fact that he’d give the monster his daughters knowing what they would go through.”

Graham could hear the anger in his father’s tone, and it matched the fury racing through him. The thought of his beautiful wife being tortured made him want to kill her father, but first, give him a taste of what she would have gone through if Rizzo had gotten his hands on her.

Graham studied the woman and started to see the scars on her hands, neck, and face that he hadn’t seen before, and he wondered what had happened to her.

“The men in the Moretti household who have been protecting the woman for years. Are they willing to hide them until I can get a plan in place?” she asked.

Everyone looked at Graham.

“The men are extremely loyal, and my wife thinks they’d do whatever it takes.”

“Why haven’t they done something before now?” she asked.

“Faith told me that her mother was afraid they’d be killed, and then they’d have no one.”

Legacy nodded. “Who’s next in line to take over the Moretti family?”

“No one,” Graham said.

“The women?” she asked.

“No, they’ll be here.”

“Would one of you do it? As her husband, it’s rightfully yours,” she said.

Graham shook his head. “My wife would be unhappy if that happened. She wants to be as far away from that place as possible.”

“What about the men who have helped in the past? Could they take over?”

Angus nodded. “That’s a great idea. From what I understand, they’re good men. So I’m betting they’ll dismantle the human trafficking.”

“Would you talk to them about it?” she asked. “I don’t need or want to be involved with that side.”

“It will be taken care of,” Angus said.

“All right, my guys and I have talked and decided that the day after tomorrow, a call will be put to Rizzo and Moretti that you have the girls. Hopefully, the men can hide the last two quickly.”

“They’ll show up with an army?” Alastair asked.
