Chapter Twenty-Four
The door opened, and Faith rushed in. “I heard screaming.”
Shit. This was the last thing he wanted to happen.
“Who the fuck are you?” Gina asked.
“I’m Graham’s wife.”
“What?” Gina bellowed.
He held his hand out to Faith. “Baby, come here.”
She walked to him.
“This is an old acquaintance of mine, Gina McMillan.”
“I would say nice to meet you, but I’d be lying,” Faith said.
He chuckled. Damn, he was so proud of her.
“He was supposed to be mine,” Gina shrieked.
Faith looked up at him and raised a brow. “Really?”
He grinned. “Remember the man who spit on our food?”
Faith made a face and nodded.
“It was her brother,” he said.
“What in the world was he doing?”
“Trying to find something to blackmail me with because Gina thinks I owe her.”
“I don’t think I want to get into why she thinks that,” Faith said. “Are you about finished with her? Dinner is about ready.”
“You fucking bitch. You’re nobody, and he’ll dump you as he did me.”
Faith’s eyes narrowed. “Let me introduce myself. My full name is Faith Moretti Maclean.”
He was pleased to see Gina pale. Damn, his wife was remarkable. He loved everything about her, and he seemed to fall more in love with her every day.
Faith turned back to him. “I’ll wait for you.”
He kissed her and watched her walk out before turning back to Gina. “This is the only warning you’re going to get. Stay the fuck away from me.”
Gina’s lip curled into a sneer. “Something could always happen to her.”
He growled and stormed over to her and was on her before she could blink, gripping her neck and slamming her against the wall. “Don’t you ever threaten my woman, you whore. I would kill you for even looking her way. Do you understand me? I would kill you right now, but I don’t want that to taint my woman.”
She struggled to get him to let her loose and gasped for air when he did.
He whistled, and two men came in. “Take her out, please, and make sure she’s off the property.”
“You got it, boss.”
She started shouting when they grabbed her upper arms and dragged her out of the room.
Her voice got farther away before he relaxed. He walked over to his bar, poured himself a glass of scotch, and then downed it in one swallow. Damn, he was glad he never had to see her again.
“Hey, babe. Are you ready for dinner?”
He turned to see Faith standing by the door and nodded as he walked toward her. Then he pulled her into his arms and kissed her with a fiery passion. “I’m so glad you’re my wife.”
“Looking at one of your old flames, I’d say you moved up your taste, but it would sound conceited.”
He threw back his head and laughed. “Oh, I definitely hit the jackpot when you came into my life.”
She chuckled as he slid an arm around her back.
“Let’s go eat. I’m starving.”
“I’m suddenly hungry, too, but you have to promise you’ll go shower after dinner because you smell like her.”
He chuckled. “Only if you come with me and scrub my back.”
“Oh, well. If I have to.”
He pushed her against the wall and slid his knee between her legs. “Oh, yes. You have to, baby.”
She curled her arms around his neck. “Okay. I love you.”
“Fuck, baby, you have no idea how much I love you.”
It sometimes overwhelmed him, but he wouldn’t change it for anything.
