Chapter Twenty-One

Ransom

“I know what you did.”

I trailed my fingers over Luna’s bare shoulder. “What did I do?”

Luna was lying on her stomach, and I was next to her on my side. She was butt naked and I was enjoying the blissful peace after Luna rocking my world twice.

After I had left the strip club, I knew that something amazing was going to happen for Luna. A week ago, I had talked to King and tried to put a bug in his ear that he was missing an important piece of the Devil’s Knights.

He got the hint, and now Luna was the happiest I had ever seen her.

She looked over at me and sighed. “You talked to King.”

“Uh, yeah, babe. I’ve talked to King before.”

She elbowed me in the chest and rolled her eyes. “No, I mean you talked to him about me joining the club.”

I shrugged and tucked her hair behind her ear. “I mean, did I really? Your name never left my lips.” And it hadn’t. Thankfully, King was a smart man, and I didn’t need to come right out and tell him that Luna needed to be a part of the Knights.

“But you were talking about me,” she insisted.

“Luna,” I whispered. “I wasn’t going to stand around and watch you not go after what you wanted. You told me you were worried about talking to King, so I just planted a seed and waited to see if it would grow.”

“Did you know? Today?” she asked

I shook my head. “I had a feeling that it was going to happen, but no, it wasn’t like they had checked with me before asking you. You getting into the club has nothing to do with me and all to do with you being someone that the Devil’s Knights are lucky to have.”

A tear streaked down her cheek. “I really don’t deserve you.” The Luna a year ago would have been furious with me. She would have thought I had butted into her life and took the control away from her.

Now?

Now she knew the only reason I had said something to King was because I wanted the best for her. I wanted her to be happy, and for that to happen, I saw a way to help.

“Nah.” I traced the trail of her tear and wiped it away. “You deserve to be happy, babe.”

“And you make me happy,” she whispered.

I leaned in and pressed a kiss to her lips. “Right back at you.” Nothing had ever made me as happy as having Luna in my life did. “And the Devil’s Knights make you happy.”

She nodded. “They’re my family.”

“And now, for the next year or so, they get to tell you what to do and make you wash their bikes.” I busted out laughing. “You think I can bring my cruiser by when you’ve got the wash bucket out.”

Luna reared back and slugged me on the shoulder. “You do not get your car washed by me. You didn’t make the cut for the Knights, you remember?”

“Low blow.” I rubbed my shoulder and laughed. “Besides, I’m glad I didn’t become a Devil’s Knight because you never would have looked my way.”

Luna tipped her head to the side. “You aren’t wrong. I’m not into being someone’s ol’ lady.”

“So, you’re only an ol’ lady if the guy is in a club?” I clarified.

Luna shrugged. “I mean, no, but for me, yeah.”

I wrapped her in my arms and rolled onto my back. She snuggled into my side and sighed. “I would have quit the club as soon as I met you.”

“Bullshit,” she laughed.

I would have. It wasn’t a lie when I said I knew the moment I met Luna that she was the one for me. It had been a hell of a bumpy road to get to where we were now, but it was worth it in the end. Though we still had that bumpy road, but we were on it together. “You know what, I don’t even think I would have made it through being a prospect if King had let me join the club.”

“Why not?” Luna asked.

“Because I would have to have actually bought a bike.”

Luna reared back. “Shut up,” she gasped. “You didn’t even have a motorcycle when you tried to prospect.”

I smirked and shook my head. “That was one of my friend’s bikes. He was letting me borrow it and then I was going to buy it from him.” I didn’t have a pot to piss in, let alone a bike, when I thought I wanted to be in an MC.

“That is hilarious,” Luna laughed.

“So, you’re two steps ahead of me already. You have a bike, and you got the prospect cut.”

Luna sighed and laid back down. “Let’s just hope I can make it being a prospect without telling one of the guys to fuck off when they tell me to do something.”

I chuckled and pressed kiss to her head. “You’ll do it, Luna. You want it bad enough, so you’ll make it happen.”

“Like you and me?” she whispered. “I wouldn’t have said it out loud before, but I really wanted you Ransom. Even when you were pissing me off.”

“Right back at you, babe. And now that I have you, I’m not letting you go.”

She pressed her lips to mine and smiled. “I’m gonna hold you to that, Detective, for the rest of our lives.”

I was ready for it.
