Meg tsked and gave another piece to Boomer. “He’ll be fine. Red used to eat bacon all of the time, and it never affected him.”

“How about you save some of that bacon for me?” Bear called. He stood and made his way over to the platter of bacon. “I’m gonna have to fight you for the bacon, Boomer,” he laughed. He grabbed a plate and put the last three pieces on it.

“I’ll make you some eggs, Wolf.” Meg moved to the stove and placed a frying pan onto a burner. “How do you like your eggs?”

“However you want to cook them. I’m not picky.” He leaned against the counter and popped a piece of bacon into his mouth.

“Fried, it is.” Meg grabbed the carton of eggs and looked Bear up and down. “Six?” she asked.

Bear chuckled and shook his head. “How about we go with four?”

“You sure? That’s a mighty big body you have to fuel,” she advised.

“Make the man four eggs, Meg,” Luna called. “And stop checking out Bear.”

Meg turned to Luna and pointed the spatula at her. “That right there is the shit I am talking about. For all I know, you’re going to run to Lo and tell him I was checking out Bear when I was actually just making sure he gets enough to eat.”

“Right,” Luna drawled.

“Is Luna becoming a traitor?” Reva asked. She sat at the table with me and reached for the uneaten piece of toast on my plate. “I’m taking this.”

I flitted my hand at her. “Have at it, girlfriend. I’m sure Meg can make you some eggs if you want.”

“How many you want?” Meg called.

“You sure you don’t need to check me out to see how many you think I should eat?” Reva laughed.

Meg lifted her hand over her head and flipped off Reva. “You’re getting two in an egg sandwich. We need to fatten you up a little bit.”

“My thighs don’t think I need any fattening,” Reva laughed.

Meg scoffed. “Whatever.”

Luna moved to the middle of the kitchen and held up her arms. “Hold the hell up. Does everyone think I’m a traitor now that I have a cut?”

Meg turned from the stove, and Reva and I stared at Luna.

“Yes,” we said in unison.

Luna threw up her hands in the air and dropped them to her sides. “Unbelievable.” She stormed out of the house and slammed the door shut behind her.

Meg blinked rapidly, and I struggled to hold back a snort.

“She always had a flair for the dramatics,” Meg scoffed. “And I don’t think she is a traitor. I’m just giving her shit because it’s entertaining.”

Reva and I both raised our hands. “Same,” we called.

“Wait,” Bear called. “You guys are just giving her shit?”

I nodded. “Yeah. It’s what we do.”

Meg turned back to the stove. “I think it’s great she’s part of the club now. She’s wanted it for forever, but she was too afraid to ask for it. About time she got her finger out of her ass cheeks.”

“Ass,” Reva called. “It’s just ass, not ass cheeks.”

“You know what I mean.”

“But instead of telling her that you’re calling her a traitor?” Bear asked.

I nodded and reached out to bump my fist with Reva’s. “Damn straight.”

“You guys are kind of diabolical.”

“Thanks,” we replied in unison again.

“And another thing”—Luna stormed back into the house and left the door wide open—“I will be in my car if you need me. I know Bear needs to go to work finding Dr. Douche, so I’ll keep an eye on the place.”

“Sounds good, honey. I’ll bring out lunch if you’re still out there doing traitor things,” Meg hollered.

Luna pursed her lips and took a deep breath. “Thank you.” She turned on her heel and stalked back outside.

“Remind me to never get on your guy’s bad side.” Bear tipped his head to the side. “Or your good side.”

“Neutral is good,” Reva laughed. “Just slip under the radar, Wolf.”

I leaned toward Reva and lowered my voice. “You guys do know that his name is Bear, right?”

Reva smirked. “Of course. That just shows that he hasn’t really slipped under the radar.”

I sat back and let out a loud laugh.

Bear tipped his head to the side and looked me in the eye.

Oh boy.

He had no idea what he was in store for when the ol’ ladies were around.

Hell, half the time, I didn’t really know what was going to happen.

“Plans for the day?” I asked. I wasn’t going to warn him anymore about what could happen when the ol’ ladies were around.

“I’m meeting Ransom at the clubhouse in half an hour.”

Meg glanced at Bear. “I think you should have six eggs, then. Keep your strength up.” Meg cracked two more eggs into the pan and popped two pieces of bread into the toaster. “I’ll put it in a burrito so you can eat it on the go.” She turned and grabbed a pack of tortillas from the fridge.

Bear eyed her skeptically but didn’t argue.
