Chapter Twenty

Zag

The world fell out from under my feet, and it felt like I was going to fall over. “Never been kissed?” I whispered.

How in the hell was that even possible?

Tess bit her bottom lip and nodded. I could feel her pulling away from me even though her body was pressed against mine. “I’m sorry.”

What in the hell was she apologizing for? “Excuse me?”

“I’m sorry,” she sobbed. She tried to pull out of my arms, but I didn’t loosen my hold on her.

“What in the hell are you apologizing for?” I should be the one telling her I was sorry. I didn’t deserve to be in her presence, let alone touch and hold her.

“I’m not very... No one e-e-ever wanted....” She clamped her lips together and huffed.

I knew what she was trying to say, and it was fucking insane.

It literally had taken me five seconds to know that Tess was someone special. I had been the only person in her twenty-eight years to see past the superficial stutter. Fucking idiots. Her mom included.

My gain.

“They’re idiots, Tess.”

“Who?” she whispered.

“Every person in this world who couldn’t see past your stutter. Who thought you weren’t good enough to even talk to, let alone find out how sweet your kiss is?” I cradled her face with my hand, and she tipped her head back. “I’m gonna take your first kiss, Tess, and then every one after that will be mine, too.”

“Okay,” she gasped.

I chuckled and shook my head. “You should run fast and far away from me, Tess. You deserve so much more than I could ever give you.”

“You’re already giving something I’ve n-n-never had.” She raised on her tiptoes, and her lips were a breath away from mine. “You see me.”

“I’m no good, Tess.” I had to warn her. She had to know that there were so many people out there that were a hundred times better than I was. They weren’t part of an MC. They had normal nine to five jobs and were home every night.

“You’re good for me,” she countered. “You make me b-b-believe I’m good enough.”

And that right there was why this right here was where I belonged.

I hated Malcom West, but this woman right here was the thing I would thank him for. He brought Tess into my life, and I was never going to let her go.

Just like my dad, uncles, and cousins before me, when you knew, you just knew.

I closed the gap and pressed my lips gently against hers. Her breath hitched, and her body tensed.

“Shh, babe,” I whispered against her lips. “Trust me.”

She instantly relaxed in my arms, and her lips softened. I trailed my hands up her back and threaded my fingers in her hair. My lips moved against hers, savoring her sweet taste and coaxing more from her.

Her hands gripped my cut, and she pulled herself flush against me.

“Easy, babe,” I chuckled against her lips.

“More,” she whispered. Her eyes opened, and I saw the lust and need swirling around. “Zag.”

If I had had any other woman in my arms, I would have taken what I wanted and been done with her.

Not with Tess.

I wanted all of her, and I was never going to get enough.

I lifted her in my arms. “Wrap your legs around my waist, babe,” I ordered. She lifted her legs, and I sat in the chair she had been sitting in. She straddled my waist and rested her hands on my shoulders.

“What are we doing?” she asked. “Maybe we should go inside?” she looked around nervously.

No one would be able to see us unless they walked onto the porch. We were hidden by the bushes on the side of the porch, and I would be able to hear anyone come up the walk.

I hooked my finger under her chin, and my eyes connected with hers. “We’re gonna take our time, Tess. If I’m going to be your first, well, first in everything, we’re going to do it right.”

“Uh, so far, this all seems r-r-right.”

“Good, baby.” I pressed a quick kiss to her lips. “Right is the only thing you deserve, and I’m going to try my best to give it to you.”

If trying to be the best for Tess was the only thing I did for the rest of my life, I would die a happy man.

“Now kiss me. We’ve got years of kisses to make up for.”

She looked at my lips and smiled. “I think that is g-g-g-going to be a lot of k-k-kisses.”

“I fucking hope so.”
