Quin sat back in her chair and said nothing.
Griff looked to be close to dozing off.
The kid. . .he watched me through the rear view mirror and then turned his attention back to the road.
But, Phoenix shivered against me.
I needed to know how she would feel about this new order of events. Hoping desperately her mother wouldn’t sit in jail due to my actions. I turned Phoenix’s way and wrapped my other arm around her.
She leaned her head on my chest and we stayed right there as the opera music swirled around us and the SUV maneuvered around the cars on Caviar Lime Highway.
