Misconception (Coming Home) - Page 78

When I’m finally breathing where I feel like I can speak, I tell her, “I love you. I want this. I want you forever, Riley. I just… fuck, I missed you so damn much.” It was torture to have her, then leave her, then think I lost her, to then realize I could love her and her son, to the fact that he’s my son and we’re here together.

“I can’t believe this is our life. I can’t believe I can do this every day or forever. Well, minus the condoms. I’ll be glad to get rid of those.” My cock twitches where it’s still nestled inside her, and she chuckles.

“That excites you, does it?” she teases.

“You have no idea.” I kiss her softly. Lazily sliding my tongue against hers before gently lifting her from my cock and setting her on her feet. I don’t release her until I know that she’s steady.

“We should probably clean up and go tell Mom the good news.”

“Oh no.” She gasps, her eyes going wide. “Your mom. What is she going to think we’ve been doing?”

“I told her I had something to show you.” I wag my eyebrows, and she swats at my shoulder.

“Seriously, Hudson. What are we going to do?”

“Relax. We have a son. It’s not like she doesn’t know we’ve had sex.”

“I know that, but dropping our son off to her so that we do that isn’t right.”

“I do have something to show you, and well, kind of ask you. So we can tell her that.” I reach down and pick up her clothes and hand them to her. “Let’s go get cleaned up, and I can show you.”

She nods, still looking a little worried, but it’s not a big deal. Not that I want my mother to know when I’m getting freaky with my girl, but her knowing isn’t the end of the world. She knows that I’m in love with Riley, and I want to spend my life with her.

Twenty minutes later, we’re both showered, separately, much to my dismay. She was insistent that if I joined her, we would never leave, and I knew she was right, so I stayed sitting on the bed until it was my turn.

“So what did you have to show me?” she asks.

I hold out my hand for her. “Follow me.” I lead her down the hall and through the kitchen, and to the garage. “See this empty bay?”

“Yeah?”

“Imagine your car parked here.” I can see the question in her eyes, but I don’t stop to let her ask. Instead, I lead her back into the kitchen. “Imagine cooking dinner here every night together. Hayes can play in his high chair and run under our feet and keep an eye on his younger siblings while we do our thing in here.”

“Hudson,” she breathes.

I lead her to the living room. “Weekend cuddles and cartoons. I can see it. We’re sitting on the couch, and all of our kids are in their jammies, and we’re having a lazy weekend.”

“That sounds perfect,” she says, tears shimmering in her eyes.

I lead her down the hall. “We have four bedrooms. Two of which are occupied, so we need at least two more kids to fill this place up. And if we decide to expand our family past that, we can add on. We have the land, and it would be easy to do.” I move on down the hall to the bedroom next to the master. I push open the door. “I thought this would make a good nursery. Once Hayes is older, we can move him to one of the other rooms and leave this one set up for the next one.”

She loses her battle with tears, and I wipe at them with my thumbs. I take her hand again and lead her back to the master. “This room…” I wrap my arms around her from behind. “This is our space. This is where I make love to you every night before we let exhaustion from the long day take us. This is where I’ll fuck you in the early morning hours before the kids are awake to be sure we get our time. And the shower you denied me earlier? We can shower together every day.”

I pause, giving her time to process what I’m saying. “I want you and Hayes to move in with me. I have the space. It’s close to my parents, who will be watching him and our future children. I want this to be where we raise our family. I know you love your house, and you worked hard to get it, and we can keep it. We can rent it out if you want, or just keep it. I don’t care. We can do whatever you want, but, Riles, I can see it all so clearly. I want my family. I want this to be our home.”
