ChapterEleven
Chloe lay in bed, her head on Ronan’s chest, stroking his pecs. She really didn’t think she’d be able to stand. Her muscles were numb, but her nerves were still tingling with the pleasure of repeated orgasms. She’d been with men who’d bragged about how often they could make a woman come, but rarely would one follow through. There was no bragging from Ronan, just a determination to fulfill his promise.
“I’m guessing from your silence that you’re finally useless.”
“Hmm...maybe.” No need to let him get a big head. He already had one of those.
He pinched her ass. “Didn’t your mother teach you it’s rude to lie?”
She laughed and then kissed his chest. “Fine. You win. You more than successfully completed my list.”
Silence hung between them, a pause of uncertainty.
Finally, she couldn’t take it anymore. “So, do you plan to make a list for me?”
“Are you saying you want to do this again?”
“Who would be dumb enough to say no to multiple orgasms?” Relief washed over her at his response. They hadn’t discussed this being an ongoing thing, but why not? She hadn’t had a regular hook-up in a while.
Her loose body melted against Ronan and she fell asleep.
When the barest hint of light was glowing into her bedroom, Chloe sat up. She heard the shower running and checked the clock. Six am? What the hell? She stumbled out of bed, pulled on an oversized T-shirt, and went to the kitchen to make coffee. She’d never gotten around to telling Ronan about Danny Cahill coming to the bar yesterday, and she figured he should know.
He came into the kitchen fully dressed. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to wake you.”
“You didn’t. At least I don’t think so. I don’t know what woke me up.”
He moved to the couch and bent to shove his feet into his boots.
“Coffee’s about ready if you want some.”
“Sounds good.”
She reached up and pulled two cups down from the cabinet. Ronan was suddenly behind her, hands on her hips, mouth against her neck. “Walking around like that is gonna make me late for work.”
She shivered and closed her eyes. “As much as I’d love to seduce you, going to work late might cause you more problems than you think.”
He released her, but she still felt the imprint of his fingers on her flesh. “What do you mean?”
“Danny Cahill came into the Rose yesterday.” She filled both cups and handed him one. “He had two of your guys meet him for dinner. Tanner and Leroy.”
Ronan set his cup on the counter and crossed his arms. His biceps bulged and she remembered the flex of those arms while she rode him last night. “Unusual company, huh?”
“Let’s put it this way. You said you were only invited once you were promoted. He was pumping them for information.”
“They’re good guys. I don’t have anything to worry about.”
“You’re right. They told him you’re a good boss. The weird part was that he was asking them about the old guys you have on your crew. He wanted to know if you talk to them a lot and give them special treatment.”
That earned her a grunt.
“They knew he was fishing for something, but they didn’t know what or why. But they like you.”
“Good to know.”
“Danny is following Alan’s orders to keep an eye on you.”
“Yeah.” He picked up his cup and drank the coffee.
They stood in silence, drinking coffee. Not quite awkward, but not comfortable either.
“You can come by tonight if you want.”
“I could probably do that. I have to check in on the work Declan is doing.”
“Will you have enough time to make me a list?” She wagged her eyebrows at him.
He set his cup down again and stepped closer. He caged her in against the counter. “I think we can reuse your list. It was a pretty fucking good list.”
Her smile spread quickly. “Yeah, it’s a good start. I think I might want to add an addendum.”
She reached between them and stroked his crotch. “I don’t think you made full use of my mouth last night.”
He ground against her hand. “Fuck.” Then he pulled away quickly and adjusted himself. “Thanks for the coffee.”
She laughed as he left the room to gather his things. There was no kiss goodbye, no romantic comments as he slipped from her apartment. As far as hook-ups went, this one was pretty damn good. She left her coffee on the counter, questioning why she even pretended as if she planned to stay awake. She crawled back into bed and dreamt of the things she’d like to do with Ronan before he grew tired of her.
