“It’s more than that, Brendan. He knows. I’m not sure he knows I’m with Ronan, but he knows you guys are looking for information.”
“Good. I had Nolan tell him that I was asking questions. I want him to know.”
“I think he might’ve been suspicious for a while. I asked him why he hired Ronan if he didn’t trust him and he basically said it was to keep an eye on him.”
“Keeping his enemies close, I guess.”
“I didn’t like it.”
“Are you okay?”
“I guess. He didn’t do anything. And if I didn’t know what you guys suspect about everything with Alan and Danny, I would think he was just an older guy giving out fatherly advice. But I do know, and it gave the conversation a different twist, if that makes sense.”
“It does.”
“Anyway, I have to get ready. I just wanted you to know. Don’t tell Ronan. Not yet. I’ll tell him after tonight.”
“Be careful.”

She disconnected and went to get ready to continue playing her role of naïve neighborhood good girl. But first, she was calling the landlord to make him come out to fix the lock that should’ve been taken care of weeks ago.
