“I’m pregnant,” she blurts.

“Wha—” Sierra starts, but then Luce holds a pregnancy test up only inches from her face.

Sierra blinks and pulls back before squealing with excitement. All I can do is step forward and pull Luce into a bear hug. We certainly hadn’t been trying like we had with Suzy, but we weren’t exactly stopping it from happening, either. Being a dad has been one of the most fulfilling roles I’ve ever had in life. Better than CEO, owner, polo player, financial backer. It’s only rivaled by being Luce’s husband.

“I love you,” I whisper to her.

“I love you too,” she breathes.

We share a kiss and look lovingly into one another’s eyes. I can’t believe we’re having another. It’ll surely be another great adventure.

“So that’s why you refused the champagne,” Sierra comments.

Luce laughs and nods, though her eyes are still on mine. They are shimmering with happiness. I love this woman, and this life we’ve built together. In my younger days, I never would have thought having kids and owning a home would be more exciting than cocaine and surfing. Being with Luce is the adventure of a lifetime.
