Moonlight (Grim Gate 3) - Page 50

Then he yanks the material to the side and enters me, thrusting in hard and fast. He plays with my clit as he fucks me, holding off until I come, pussy contracting around his cock. He moves his hand back, holding onto my waist, and thrusts in deeper. I get hit with another sensation of pleasure when he comes inside me, filling with even more warmth.

I grip the countertop as the orgasm rolls through me. Ethan slowly pulls out, and after a moment I scoot to the toilet to pee and clean myself up.

“I think that should be our standard goodbye.” Ethan says, wrapping his towel back around his waist.

“It is one hell of a send off.” I toss my underwear in the laundry pile and get a clean pair from my dresser. Unplanned sex is the best kind of sex, but now I have to rush to leave and get to the bait shop in time to meet Ruby .

I make it , and actually wait a few minutes before the door opens. Ruby steps out and turns, waving her hand behind her to close the door. She’s dressed a bit more casual today, wearing gray dress pants and a black sweater that has the Grim Gate sigil on the breast.

“Hey,” she greets me. “You’re opening the door today.”

“I am?” My face lights up. “I very vaguely remember the spell.”

“I got it written down. How’s your Latin?” Ruby pulls a piece of paper from her pocket.

“Uh, probably not the best.”

She laughs and hands me the paper. Don’t worry. That’s how it is for most people. Just read and envision the door opening. Intent is key when it comes to casting spells.”

“Invoco elementum terrae,” I start, feeling power rush through me. “Invoco elemuntum aeris. Invoco elemuntum aqua. Invoco elemuntum ignis.” The door starts to glow in front of me and Ruby takes a pin from her sweater and extends it to me.

“You need to shred a drop of blood so the door knows whoever is opening it is allowed to.”

“I remember that part.” Pressing my thumb against the tip of my index finger, I look away as I stab myself. Once a little drop of blood pools on my skin, I kneel down and let it drop onto the ground. The door sizzles into view and I stand, eyes wide. “It worked.”

“You sound surprised.”

“I shouldn’t be, I know.”

Ruby playfully elbows me. “Like I said: you’re not a total noob.”

“I’m just waiting to not feel like one,” I say and we step through the door. As soon as I’m inside the Covenstead, a feeling of peace comes over me, which immediately causes a knot to form in my stomach.

Because if the hunters are going after a witch—a witch who didn’t even do anything wrong—then aren’t we all in danger?

It’s lunchtime, and students mill about the courtyard, enjoying the sunshine. We’re in a hidden dimension, yet the weather mirrors what’s going on at home. It’s confusing, that’s for sure, and I know it’s one of those things I just need to accept as is and not try and question every little aspect of it.

“We have about twenty minutes until my next class,” Ruby says as she leads me inside and to her office. “Did you eat lunch already?”

“I did, at home. I’m not taking up your lunch hour, am I?”

“No, you’re good. I ate before this.”

“Oh, good.” I look around, having a hard time keeping the smile off my face. This place is so full of life and happiness, a stark difference from the cold, sterile environment of the Order HQ . Happy chatter and laughter fill the halls and the feeling is welcoming. Is it only welcoming because I’m a witch? I guess I’ll never know.

“It’s a bit crazy. Spring break is the week after next and the students have spring fever bad,” Ruby explains as we make our way toward her office. “Trying to get a room full of eight- and nine-year-olds to concentrate was a task today. It’s going to be a shit show next week.”

“I remember those days,” I say with a laugh. “A break from school is enough to look forward to, but when you get lucky and have nice weather, it’s enough to make me have a hard time focusing, even when I was in college.”

“Right? Even as a teacher I get spring fever.”

It goes quieter as we get past the dining hall, going up a narrow hallway that leads to the professor’s offices. Exhaustion threatens to hit me, and I really hope it doesn’t mean I’m still sick.

“I have an outline of my notes,” Ruby tells me as she opens her office door and goes right to her desk, picking up a folder and leafing through it. This room is oddly familiar and I get hit with another memory when I run my fingers over the weathered wooden door frame.
