Perfect Tenn - Page 43

But he stops, pulls back, and kisses my nose. “Not tonight. Tonight we have other plans,” he says and smiles at me before turning to leave.

“Hey, wait. What are we doing?” I ask, holding onto the back of his shirt.

“You’ll see.” He starts to leave again and turns his head. “Oh wait, make sure you wear your favorite dress.”

That’s it. He walks out, and I hear the front door close. I sit down on the bed in a daze and look around. “What the hell kind of powers does he have?”

**

This work day is the longest in the history of all time. I have rushed through activities, extended play time, and even limited work to almost nothing. Anything to speed up time, but it doesn’t seem to help. Sitting at my desk, I watch the clock tick away; one more minute and this day is over.

Once all the kids are gone, Holly and I clean up in record time.

“Damn, you must really want to get your drink on. I’ll be at your place around seven, and we can grab some food before we hit the bar,” she say,s putting up the last chair.

Oh crap. I totally forgot I made plans with her. “Shit, I can’t tonight. I have plans with Tenn,” I say, not making eye contact. The last thing I need is her knowing anything.

She puts her hands on her hips and shakes her head, sending her ponytail all around. “Are you kidding? What plans could you two possibly have?”

“Stop it. I forgot we had made plans when I asked you to do something. I’ll call you tomorrow, and we’ll figure something out,” I say, locking my desk.

“What am I supposed to do tonight now?” she whines as we head toward our cars.

I shrug my shoulders and smile at her. “I don’t know. Find someone who wants to stick a finger in your ass.”

I get home and take a shower. I have no idea what Tenn’s plans are for tonight, but I’m hoping it involves his bed, so I need to make sure I’m silky smooth. Once I’m showered, shaved, and moisturized, I pull out my favorite green bra and panties. Slipping them on before going about the task of getting myself ready. He said to wear my favorite dress and that is the green one I wore the night I got stood up. I didn’t think I’d wear it again, but I know damn well I’m not being stood up this time. He lives with me.

Knowing I will have that dress on, I take extra time on my hair and makeup. I don’t want to look beautiful, I want to feel sexy. As I’m busy trying not to burn myself, I hear the shower kick on, and butterflies swarm my stomach. A smile finds its way to my face, because the idea of him just being home gets me excited.

It never takes me this long to get ready, but an hour and a half later I’m ready to step into my green dress. I carefully pull it off the hanger and slide it on. Stepping into my gold heels, I check myself out in the mirror. Damn, I look as good as I feel. Quickly I spray on some perfume and decide to go see what this night has in store.

When I get into the living room, I toss my phone into my purse. “Tenn, I’m ready when you are,” I yell.

Before I can even sit down, the doorbell rings. That better not be Holly coming to see if she can tag along with us tonight. I’ll freaking kill her. I swing it open and shock doesn’t even describe it.

“Tenn?” I ask, looking at him and behind me. “What are you doing?”

He clears his throat and hands me a dozen white roses. “I’m picking you up for our date,” he says, sm

iling.

It’s too much, he’s too much. Never in my life have I had someone do something so small that meant so much. I let my eyes wander over him, and that’s when my pulse begins to pick up and my body takes notice. He’s standing here in a suit, but not just any suit, my favorite suit. Black pants and jacket, white pin-striped shirt, and green tie. He’s never looked hotter than he does right now, looking at me with those green eyes and sexy, messy hair.

“Regan, you are stunning.” He leans in and presses a sweet kiss on my full lips. “Are you going to let me come inside?”

Snapping out of a magical trance, yet again, I step aside. “Sorry. I’m just so overwhelmed. I mean you look so hot, and you rang the doorbell handing me these flowers.”

Walking into the kitchen, he moves past me and grabs a vase for the roses. “Here, give them to me.” Once he has them all arranged, he places them on the counter. He steps in front of me and wraps his arm around my waist, pulling me against him. “I’m not trying to overwhelm you, I’m trying to give you what you deserve,” he says, staring into my eyes.

I need to blink rapidly to keep a tear from escaping as I smile up at him. I rest my hands on his solid shoulders, pushing up on my toes. This time I capture his lips and kiss him with everything I have. I know I can tell him how amazing he is, but I need to show him, and I hope he understands.

“You have no idea what you are doing to me,” I whisper, breathing rapidly.

Moving his hands to rest on my ass, he smiles. “I think I have an idea.” Giving me a wink, he backs up grabbing my hand. “Come on, we have reservations.”

“Where?”

He doesn’t say anything, just continues to smile. So when we pull up to the restaurant, I need to remember that when I cry it’s ugly. I look over at him, and he winks.
