Riley (Shattered Souls MC 4)

I start my Harley, the mat black color almost matches Gillian's hair, while the flashy chrome reminds me of my vivid tattoos. As I rev my bike, he looks over and I flip him off. “I have no doubt.”
I head to Souls pissed and concerned. Brooks called this meeting and I’m wondering if maybe it’s not just me this agent is going after. I don’t know what his plan is or what he thinks he’s going to get from me. He has to know I’m not a fucking rat. I’ll die before I’ll ever give him anything on the club. It’s not even a decision I would need to consider. It’s an unspoken rule. Maybe he’s just a dirty piece of shit that needs someone to clean up bigger messes he made. Why he’d come looking for me to do that, I have no fucking clue. I’m just a member of Shattered Souls. I don’t hold any position. The more I think about everything, the more confused I am. I need to do some research of my own.
I pull up to Souls and park my bike next to all the others. I look around to make sure agent asshat isn’t around and make my way inside. It’s loud and packed like always. I take a second to enjoy all the beautiful women with their tits on full display as they dance up on stage, before heading back to the room where all decisions are made. I stand in front of the heavy wooden doors and take a deep breath. I can’t go in there with any sort of worry or anger, they’ll immediately know. I need to go in being me.
I pull the door open and walk in looking around. “Miss me?”
They laugh and I know they have no idea that I was just with a federal agent. The thought makes my stomach turn, but I sit down and smile at them all. I notice Kace, Zane, and Finn aren’t here yet, so nothing will be discussed. Brooks is leaning back in his chair smoking a cigarette. He doesn’t look pissed or worried. Enzo is talking to Porter and he runs his hand through his beard, laughing. Shit seems relaxed, so I have no idea what this sudden meeting is for.
The door opens as Zane and Kace walk in. Brooks sits forward and narrows his eyes. “Glad you could both fucking join us.”
“Hey, you’re lucky I’m here. The baby was screaming and if Harper didn’t come over to help Ivy she might have shot me if I left,” Kace says, pulling out his chair.
The guy looks fucking exhausted. Just another reason why I’ll never have kids. I enjoy doing my own thing. I sure as hell don’t want to be responsible for another human being.
Zane laughs as he sits down. “That kid has some lungs. I could hear him outside.”
We all laugh, but Brooks gets the meeting going quickly. “I think it’s time we made a decision about Finn. He’s been a prospect far longer than most, but with everything that’s been happening we just haven’t had the time. We need to make the time. So, thoughts?”
“Patch him in. That kid has proved himself,” I say.
Zane nods looking from me to Brooks. “I didn’t think I’d agree, but Riley is right. He’s proved himself time and time again. He surprised me.”
“He’s earned it,” Kace says.
“That kid has shown more dedication to this club than any prospect I can remember. Patch him in,” Porter says.
Enzo looks around and grins. “He’s a better prospect than any of you ever were.”
“Fuck you,” I say, laughing.
Brooks shakes his head and gets up to get the patch out of the wooden cabinet against the wall. I remember being patched in. That feeling of being fully accepted into the club, knowing that everyone trusts you and respects you. It’s not something you ever forget.
“Zane, call him in. Tell him shit is going down and we need him to explain what the fuck he’s gotten mixed up in,” Brooks says, laughing.
We all join in, but a small part of me freezes. That’s a phone call I could get for real if this shit goes south. I need to make sure this is quick and quiet. I’ll fucking die for this club, but I don’t want to be fucking killed by them. It would be long and painful. They’ll make sure of it.
“Hey, you good?” Kace asks.
I snap my eyes to him and force a smile. “Yeah, just thinking of the p
iece of ass I had earlier.”
He shakes his head, running his hand through his hair. “Must be nice,” he mumbles.
“Oh shit, is that kid cock blocking you?” I ask, laughing.
“Fuck you, Riley. I’m not being cock blocked. He needs Ivy’s attention constantly and she’s tired from being a fucking amazing mother.”
I hold my hands up, still laughing. “Yeah, definitely doesn’t sound like being cock blocked.”
Everyone laughs and Kace gets even more pissed. “None of you have any idea what it’s like,” he hisses, lighting a joint.
“Hey, I have a daughter,” Porter says.
“That you haven’t seen or spoken to since she was, what, like five?” Kace asks.
Porter leans forward and folds his hands. He’s trying to contain his anger and I’m trying to hold back a laugh as I watch it. “That’s because her mother is a fucking cunt. I’ve tried having a relationship with her,” he growls.
