“Thanks. I’m just finishing setting up. Josh should be here in like a half hour. What time are you supposed to be starting?” I look at the clock in the car and see that it’s five thirty.
“Same for me. I should be done by eight, what about you?” I look to the left before switching lanes.
“I’m aiming for eight, but it may be longer since this is the first time we are working together. I’ll call you as soon as I’m done.” I stop at a red light and look over at the car next me. It’s a group of kids, probably college age. They are probably getting ready to go out, get trashed, and find tonight’s hookup. At least I would have at that age. The light changes and they take off. “Jax?” I press the gas and snap out of my thoughts.
“Sorry. Hey you want to go to Ecstasy tonight after we are both done?” She’s quiet for a minute.
“Yea, I’m up for a night out.”
“Sweet. Blake and Max are going to be there, and Blake said Brinley might be.” She laughs.
“Oh, Brinley will be there, she’s always there. Listen, I need to finish up here, and you need to drive. I’ll call you as soon as I’m done. I’ll just need to shower real quick before we go.” The thought of her naked body in the shower is hot.
“Sounds good. Good luck at your shoot, not that you need it.” She wishes me luck as well and we hang up. I get to the beach that I’m meeting Steve at a little early, so I light a cigarette and take a walk down to the water.
“Jax? Jax Burke?” I turn to find a woman standing there. She gets a huge smile on her face when she realizes it is in fact me. “Oh my God. I love you. You are like my favorite model, you are so hot.” I smile and put out my smoke.
“Thanks. Did you want a picture?” She looks at me with wide eyes and it makes my smile bigger. It’s hard to explain the excitement I get when a fan approaches me; it is the biggest compliment, very flattering.
“Oh yes, I would love one.” She fumbles around for her phone and pulls it out with a shaking hand. I go over and take it from her.
“Here, let me.” I wrap my arm around her, and she puts hers around my waist. I hold the phone up and snap a few pictures for her. “There you go.” She takes her phone and can’t wipe the smile off her face.
“I never would have thought you were so sweet. Thank you.” I give her a hug and she wraps her arms around me, still shaking. “You’ve made my night. Thank you.” She rushes off, and I smile, thinking how things have changed since I started modeling. It is such a great feeling.
“Jax?” I turn around and Steve is standing there.
“Hey, man.” We shake hands, and he gets right to business. He tells me exactly what he wants and tells me to go put on a different swimsuit. I do, and when I return with my bag, in case he wants me to change again, he is all set up and ready to go. We do a bunch of shots in front of the water before he has me lying in the sand and in the water. The water is getting colder, so I’m hoping this part is over soon.
“These are looking great. Alright, let’s move down a bit further, and you can change your trunks.” The rest of the shoot is pretty much the same. He tells me exactly what to do, and I do it. It’s not an exciting shoot, nothing special about it. He’s a serious guy that doesn’t bring much fun to it, so when he says this is the final photo, I’m not disappointed. “Really great, Jax. I will get these edited and send you the ones worth sending. Thanks for meeting me here. I look forward to shooting with you again.” I tell him it was great meeting him, pick up my stuff, and head to the car. I look around the parking lot to make sure no one is looking and pull off my wet bathing suit, putting on a dry one. I climb into my car and check the time. It’s almost eight o’clock, and I’m surprised that the shoot didn’t even last two hours. I figured it would at least go to eight, but I’m not complaining. I put the key in the ignition and throw it into reverse.
By the time I get home and shower, it is almost nine, and I still haven’t heard from Kallie. Hopefully, she’ll be done soon so we can hit the club. I sit down and flip on the TV, wasting time until she calls me. A half hour later, my phone finally rings and it’s her. “Hey, I’m ready. Sorry it took so long, but the shoot was amazing, and I showered as soon as he left.” I turn off the TV and grab my keys and wallet.
“You should have called me when you were done. I would have waited at your place for you.” I’m actually a little pissed that she waited to call me. I’ve been waiting around like a fucking tool for her phone call.
“I’m sorry, I just wanted to be ready when you got here so we didn’t waste any time.” I’m not even going to make a big deal out of it, I just want to go out and get drunk. It’s been a long time.
“I’ll be there soon.” We hang up and I go over to get her.
We get to the club and it is packed, which is normal for a Friday night. I grab her hand and lead her to the bar to grab us both a drink. She wants a beer also, so I get us each one, and we go to look for Blake and Max. I don’t know if it’s possible with it being so packed in here. A song comes on and Kallie grabs my arm. “I love this song. Come on, let’s dance.” I laugh when I hear it’s Uptown Funk! by Mark Ronson.
“I don’t think this is a song I can dance to.” She gives me a pouty face, and I chug back my beer. Damn it, this girl can get me to do anything.
“Fine.” She squeals and starts shaking her ass, which let me tell you is fucking hot. I just kind of move to the beat, I’m more interested in watching her. She is really into the song, and it makes me smile knowing she’s already having a good time. When the song is over, she laughs at me when I whistle at her. “Damn, I didn’t know you could dance like that. I’ve been missing out.” She takes a sip of her beer and squeals again when Brinley runs over to her. They hug and start talking a mile a minute while I just stand there.
“It’s impossible to try and keep up with them.” I turn around and see Max.
“Hey, man. How’ve you been?” We start bullshitting while the girls are talking. I tell him about my shoot today, and he says he’s worked with Steve before and felt the same way. It was just a shoot, nothing exciting. “Where’s Blake?” He laughs and points his beer behind me. I turn and see him dancing with two women. “Having a good night is he?”
“You know him, any night with a girl is a good one.” We laugh and finally Kallie returns to myside. I wrap my arm around her, kissing her head.
“Hey, Max.” He kisses her cheek, and I do the same to Brinley. Another song comes on that Kallie loves, but this time, she drags Brinley out with her, and when I say drag, I mean they both scream and take off.
“Another beer?” Max laughs and we head to the bar. We both get a beer, and I lean against the bar and drink it.
“How’s everything going with you and Kallie?” I search for her on the dance floor, and once I find her, I smile.
“Honestly, fucking amazing.” He hits h
